Nursing pre-reqs online? Is it a good idea?

Hi everyone!

Im hoping to complete Fon241 and Bio 201 in the same semester and for this plan to work out I would need to take Fon 241 online. I was wandering how rigorous the course is and whether taking it online in combination with Bio201 is a good idea! I would really appreciate hearing about the experiences you all had with these courses!

Also, if you can let me know how psy230 is online I would also appreciate it!Thanks!:)

Online courses are great if you have the motivation to spend the time needed. Also, you must be able to teach yourself quiet a bit because the professors I've had online aren't very interactive.

Psy 230 is not bad at all. I don't know what FON is. Our A & P I is BIO 141. That class was more difficult for me than BIO 142.

I really liked them, but I feel ready to get out more now. They are esp. great for mom's.

I've only taken a few online. If you are motivated and can learn without a teacher present go for it. I'm more of a visual learner and I don't do well on the computer so I took most of my pre-reqs in the classroom! To each his own!

I took Sociology online and it was manageable. The only hard part was having to write 4 papers. I'm taking Biology lecture online and lab on campus and it's a little more difficult because its only 8 weeks and when I sit down to listen to the lectures that he posts online I get so tired, so this is my learning lesson to not take a science class online because I need to be in a classroom environment to stay focused. I also have 2 little ones and they don't understand the concept if me needing time to study. Every 5 minutes I hear "Mom!". lol But everyone is different. Next semester I'm taking A&P on campus and Psychology online.

yep learned my lesson for taking classes online. took an intro chem class and didnt do anything for the class for almost a month during the term. luckily the course was slow paced and I was able to do some heavy duty cramming in the end (and actually got an A). never again though. I think I would have learned the material better and probably faster if I had taken the traditional chem class. it was just last term and I dont think Ive retained a darn thing

If there's any way possible, I'd stay in the class room if I were you. I don't know you or your work habits, though. I try to stay away from online classes at all costs. I've had nothing but bad experiences with them (not to say you will). I took a math class online and passed with a C because I had to teach myself. Then I took the next level math up in the class room and passed with an A. I also took a simple music class online and found myself in a panic when I had procrastinated until the last week of the semester to take 4 tests. I'm normally a very responsible person! During the semester I got really busy and the online class could easily be put on the back burner. Big mistake! Hopefully you can learn from my mistakes should you go through with the online classes! Good luck :)

I'm taking all online courses.

Bio chem and psyc.

You can do this :-)

It depends on the teacher. My instructor was easy. Be aware that you may be required to take classes on campus during a specific time frame. I had three days to take a test in the testing center.

Have you ever taken an online class? If you have not, then just take one. I am really bad at remembering to complete assignments on time. The discussion board posts are annoying too.

Just make sure the schools you are applying to ACCEPT them. It is pointless if they do not. If they do then why not?

Specializes in Hospice, Palliative Care.

Good day:

I'm taking one of my prerequisites online this semester (general psychology); I'm registered to take another course this fall (psychology, life cycle development).

Maybe it's my age, but I'm finding online to be harder than in-class in terms of dedicating 100% attention to the lectures as they are on MP3 (audio only); I miss the visual (body language) as well as being able to see what's on the board / screen.

Thank you.
