I'm still debating what route to go. I am trying to make a list of all the "possible" states I would live in and those I know I would never step foot in. With that, I'm trying to find out what states accept EC graduates and what additional requirements/coursework they require for work in the state. Some BON sites don't say anything about EC so I'm hoping others will know.

So, what are YOUR states requirements and what state is it? Thanks!

Specializes in ICU, PICC Nurse, Nursing Supervisor.

New York. EC is a NYS school, so no problem.

Louisiana. Here if you weren't an LPN before EC, you have to have 6 months of experience on an acute floor, and becoming an RN.

I live in North Carolina. NC does not have a problem with EC.

Virginia, and EC's ADN/RN is accepted here. :)

Specializes in TCU, Med-Surg.

I live in Montana and they except EC grads. FYI so does Idaho. Good luck with your studies.

GA now and I've worked in MD, CO, and KS as an EC grad.

Texas here! I've never heard of any problems.

Specializes in LTC, Urgent Care.

straight from a gal at the pa sbon: "pennsylvania does not have any approved nursing programs offering exclusively distance education. the only program pa sbon currently "recognizes" is the excelsior program in new york."
