5 Careers That Let You Have Fun on the Job - Yahoo! EducationThis kinda made me laugh. Any thoughts?
They must have talked to a psychiatric nurse. You can't make up the stuff that we get to see every day.
One final thought from me. . .
1. If you consider death and dying fun, then nursing is for you.
2. If you consider pain and anguish fun, then nursing is for you.
3. If you think verbally abusive families are fun, nursing is for you.
4. If exposure to infectious diseases is fun, then nursing is for you.
5. If the possibility of career-ending injuries sounds fun, nursing is for you.
6. If being viewed as an 'expense' that detracts from the bottom line sounds fun, nursing is for you.
7. If dealing with condescending doctors seems fun, then nursing is for you.
8. If stress and burnout sound like a lot of fun, then nursing is for you.
The least they could do is talk to people in the profession to get some kind of idea of what it's really like. They make it sound like nurses just sit around and socialize with the patients while occasionally giving them meds. I also don't see how nurses have such a flexible schedule that allows them so much time for fun outside of work. Between the days working, the days on call, and the days management wants us to come in on our days off, no, there isn't a lot of time left to do what we want. Here's another thing to consider: without that MD behind your name, you're nothing but an uneducated, easily replacable staff member who doesn't matter to the company. Yeah, I guess being a nurse is pretty fun:rolleyes:
What is he smoking?
Fun factors: Nurses often work directly with patients, so this interaction could allow you to get creative, crack jokes, and remain upbeat, all while administering medicines and organizing important details.
It amazes me sometimes on how little to no research these writers write about. I'm not saying, nurses don't do all the above. I'm sure many do act that way. But, the way he worded it sounds like an advertisement for Sandals beach resorts. Come on now!
You mean playing in infected body fluids isn't fun?? and we're not having fun yet? and lets not forget the exotic aromas we are exposed to all day every day- I don't know about all of you- but I prefer a walk through the units in any given hospital to going into a Bath and Body Works:barf01::lol2:
