Deficiencies found on app after passing boards

  1. ok so i passed my lpn class in july made it pass thier background check,,, filled out the app for boards and got my att was allowed to take boards,,, passed my boards got my letter to send in my money order to get my license and now today i get an email from a lady at idfpr stating that i have things on my background check that need to be clarified ,,,, which include an arrest when i was 15,,, a charge for prostitution that was not convicted of but was convicted of disorderly conduct( a misdemeanor) ,,, a charge for prostitution that i don't even know how it shows i was charged because it was an arrest on a warrant for missing court and then a charge for domestic battery that i was never convicted of that i sent them the paper work for already but they are now saying they need it again cause it wasn't officially stamped ,,,, what am i to do how is this all popping up when it was never showing before how are they seeing charges not convictions

a little more clarification since some found it confusing

the charges on prostitution ( which i wasnt convicted of cause i wasnt doin it and was with a girl who was convicted of it and i didnt know was she doin it )were for the same case i missed one of the court dates and had a warrant which i was picked up on so i dont know how that is coming up as a whole other charge, the one on for domestic battery was from my mom calling the cops on me when we had an argument to which she recanted to the courts hence no conviction ,,,,and i didnt say the one when i was a teenager wasnt a conviction i simply said it was when i was under the age of 18 ,,,, what i am trying to figure out here is how they can A. find out my underage conviction and B. see charges brought up against me when there was no conviction ,,,, ive had numerous jobs since all of these said events have occurred many of which entailed a background check and none has ever come up before

No offense, but you lost me somewhere in the top third of your post... Anyway, the Board is the one making the rules and you'll have to do what they ask.
I still can't figure out how you ended up with all these charges that weren't true either.
My brain may just be tired today!

ok one dont need to be rude two the charges on prostitution ( which i wasnt convicted of cause i wasnt doin it and was with a girl who was convicted of it and i didnt know was she doin it )were for the same case i missed one of the court dates and had a warrant which i was picked up on so i dont know how that is coming up as a whole other charge, the one on for domestic battery was from my mom calling the cops on me when we had an argument to which she recanted to the courts hence no conviction ,,,,and i didnt say the one when i was a teenager wasnt a conviction i simply said it was when i was under the age of 18 ,,,, what i am trying to figure out here is how they can A. find out my underage conviction and B. see charges brought up against me when there was no conviction ,,,, ive had numerous jobs since all of these said events have occurred many of which entailed a background check and none has ever come up before

The board of nursing in many states can see your full record. Just like certain other government agencies. If you were almost 18, it may have been entered as an adult. Most employer checks look only at convictions as they don't have to protect the public like the BoN does.

Take a breath. If you had an attorney contact them. If not contact the courts for the disposition documents.

You can also hire a nurse license defense attorney The American Association of Nurse Attorneys has a directory/referral service online. TAANA Executive Office - Home

During orientation for Nursing school I recall the director stating that the BON "Knows All". Even charges that are supposedly erased, I forget the term for it now, can be found.

Nurses are held to higher standards. IF you have a chance to clarify, OWN your mistakes. The BON hates excuses or BS. Be honest, explain what you have done to change your life and correct your choices.

I second justbeachy's recommendation to talk to a TAANA attorney, as they are experienced with nursing licensing issues. It's not in your best interest to discuss details about past charges on a public forum, as the information contains unique identifiers and can be used against you. It is in your best interests to discuss the matter in private with an attorney.

So ... About these prostitution charges. Did the Bon allow you to take your Nclex pn or no?
