Keep fired jobs off resume?

I have been fired from my first 2 positions as a new nurse. They were both in the Emergency Department. I'm now looking for a different kind of nursing position but I don't know if I should put one of either of these jobs on my resume. I was at one hospital for 4 months and the second one for 3 months. I want to find a position I can excel in but that will only happen if I can get another job. I'd appreciate any advice.

Don't they get reported to the BON, at least in some states?

What happened in the ERs that got you fired? You should first focus on fixing that problem before applying for additional jobs.

Plus if the application says all previous employment you risk losing a new job for falsifying your application. Why did you lose both jobs?

I wasn't performing fast enough, a problem with time management. I was told I did the job but not fast enough.

I recently wrote a piece on the pre-employment background check process, if you wish to read it: The Pre-Employment Background Check

Basically, depending on the third party background check company used by the prospective employer, not all previous jobs will show up on a pre-employment background check.

I recently ordered a copy of a check that was conducted on me, and only the jobs I listed were verified by the background check company's staff members. Although I have never been fired or terminated, I typically do not list PRN jobs that I only held for a few months because they clog up my resume.

You should be honest. Include the positions and explain that the ER is not a good fit for you. Many recent grads are not equipped for the ER.

However, be prepared to explain what you have learned and how you plan to move forward.
