Nursing Interview Attire

I would go with a basic suit, black, charcoal gray, something along those lines, and then add color with a shirt or tie (wear a tie!). Nice black dress shoes. Be prepared to spend a couple hundred dollars on the suit. You don't have to get crazy on the shoes, but they need to look good. A nice tie makes a difference as well.

just some advice, from seeing alot of people come in for interviews in non-nursing related fields, suit fit was always horrible. Get something form fitting, nothing loose and also depending on your age, get a slim tie, shows youth and energy.

In my opinion, I don't think a nursing program will reject you because your suit doesn't fit exactly right in the shoulder. Nice jacket, nice (non-wrinked of course) pants, conservative tie, shined shoes...in my mind, no need to spend hundreds of dollars when after school you will wear $10 scrubs to work. Yes, you want to look professional, but it does not need to be super fancy.

The content of your answers is going to be way more important that your outfit--assuming, of course, the outfit is professional appearing.

True, but I did research and asked a friend and he told me that everybody was wearing a very strict formal attire. It didn't say that on my invitation letter, but everybody was just very prepared and professional with regards to their attire. Maybe it's the only time they get to wear suits and tried to rock it, after all, they'll end up in scrubs for a long time.

I'm not saying to show up in scrubs; however, I am saying that I don't think you need to spend hundreds of dollars on a top notch suit. Just my opinion...

I think a dark color pair of dress pants, a button up shirt( a solid color that flatters your skin color/hair), and tie is appropriate. I do not think it is necessary to wear a full suit. I also think you could find a good bargain at TjMaxx, Marshalls, or Nordstrom Rack if you have those in your area. I think you could get the whole outfit including shoes for $100 if you shop smart.

I agree with the ops. I shined my old shoes, I dressed business casual for my nursing school interview. (Black capris and a black, white and grey top)

for a man, dress slacks and a conservative top will probably work.
