@Ginger's Mom " I would doubt the use of Tagalog would be tolerated since they are offended by anyone speaking anything except the official language."

Yoopian,

The use of tagalog is not tolerated even if you are speaking to your friend or family in public, moreso, if you are at your workplace, speaking to a colleague who is also a filipino.

This is a fewyears ago now, but when I was visiting Quebec city we got told off by a policeman for talking Australian to loud in a park!!!

Quebec is a cold place and I'm not just talking about the weather.

It's the Quebecois way or the highway.

@ceridwyn

Wow. I can't imagine being told by the police to stop speaking your native language with a fellow countryman. Must've been really awful.

@charlie19 and fiona59

Thanks guys! That's why I'm trying to really improve my french. So when I'd get there I'd be ready to mingle with other people and not be told off by the police that I can't speak English or Filipino with my friends or family. I still think it's worth the trouble to learn another beautiful language for me to be able to stay there.

Have you visited this area ? While it has it's beauty, it has several unique issues. First, to go fly anyplace it is very expensive, while in the USA......you can get cheap flights ( New York to Washington, Washington to NYC, Boston to Chicago.) for under $100, it costs over $500 to travel a similar distance. Crossing the boarder is often difficult, especially if you don't have a Canadian Passport. I know many US citizens who have been turned away at the Quebec boarder.

Unless you can get rid of your accent and speak pure Quebec French you will be treated like an outsider. So while you are practicing your French make sure you are learning it from a French Canadian...... Is there a place to study Quebec French in your homeland?

I live in the Northeast, where we get about 50 inches of snow ( that is so much snow, if you have never lived in an area with snow, it changes your whole life), Quebec gets double the amount. The good news is in Quebec they have very good snow removal. The French Canadians love to come to very cold Maine, to enjoy the "warm" weather. Learn to love skiing and building snowmen. Complaining about the cold and snow will not be welcoming here since it is there way of life, so plan on building a life around the climate.

Quebec wishes to attain sovereignty from the rest of Canada. If you plan it immigrate , you need to be versed in their history and politics. I am guessing there is limited tolerance for nurses who wish to work their until a better offer ( such as their US petition becoming current). Due to their strong sense of patriotism , one would be expected to become a member of their community, not work to send money home but spend it their community.

Quebec is a wonderful place, they have a very strong personality. The wish their independence from Canada the way they are trying to achieve this is by pushing their homogenous culture. Although the Catholic faith is very strong and they have many beautiful churches.

With all this being said, I admire you wishing to embrace a new culture, learn a new language perfectly, take a medical license in a completely foreign language, and embrace a new climate.

Specializes in Home Care.

You should go visit Quebec in January before deciding that's where you want to live. Go to a few cities, try to absorb the culture and language. Get a feel for it before committing a bunch of money and time.

Checked the website given. Nursing Statutory Board in Canada? Is there such an organization?

And why do they have this "©CompanyName 2008-2009 All human and animal rights carefully reserved and preserved." near the bottom of the page. Sounds like it was made by someone who doesn't have an idea on what he's writing about. Maybe he meant to say something about a trademark and "All rights reserved". Looks shady. Animal rights. Haha

Decision is still up to you. If you trust this company then go ahead. But you may want to double check if they are really credible and also their record/proof of previous clients who made it successfully to Canada.

This is so funny. :lol2: They might be testing some animals in this company.

On a serious note, given all these facts, I seriously doubt that they are credible. Don't be duped. You are better than that.

hello everyone,

i heard about this program, i am actually one of those who paid for processing my student visa. YES, this program do not require IELTS because the program is for QUEBEC and Quebec's first language is French so they do not require IELTS. I am currently waiting for my application Packet from Ms. ********. I am also preparing my requirements so that i'll be able to make it for Jan2012. hope this answer your questions :)

Aiko

Hi.. How did your application with Global Summit go?

have you already processed your qsw application with global summit consultancy... i did.. and it wasn't a good one.. i hope you can share your experience with them.. thanks...

Shows how little you actually know. ;-)

Oops sorry about that. It wasn't meant for you Mademoiselle Michele, but for another commentator above.

First, let me you how pleasantly surprised I am that so many of you want to learn French to immigrate to Quebec. :)

It is quite inspirational really, as a Québécois, to see so many people talking about going there to live and work.

I currently live in Cebu, and I have heard of the French Alliance here, but as other commentators have pointed out, Quebec French and France French is, in some regards, different. Additionally, the French Alliance's prices are quite steep from what I hear, and the school in France-centric, while you are are interested in going to Québec.

Unfortunately, I do not have a school, but I am now thinking I should create one. :) A Quebec French School. Is this something that nurses would be interested in?

I am a translator and I have some medical translation experience so I know the terms that apply to your new career in Québec.

I work full-time, but I guess I could coach a bit if ever someone needs help.

Kind regards

Uhm, it's easier to get into Quebec right now than the rest of Canada. Many plan to migrate to Quebec, then move west.

We have this experience in Alberta. Many came when there was a hiring drive about five years back. As soon as possible people moved onto BC and Ontario. Several made it very clear we were the stepping stone to the US and were only planning on working here to get North American experience while waiting for their application to the US to be approved.
