Nursing 4600 Excellence Spring Session 2

Nursing Students Ohio University

The syllabus for this class was emailed yesterday. Most non-clinical assignments are DB items. Clinical looks fairly straightforward that culminates in a research paper. These are not clinicals in the classical sense of the word. Each week you are asked to submit a small assignment such as topic of choice (from several choices), outline, plan and final paper.

Looks like they paired down previous assignments for this class to accommodate the 'clinical' component. No quizzes. Only one book required and it is an easy read.

Has anyone looked at the Goals and Objectives template yet? Since the QSEN goal is the actual subject we choose( informatics here), what is the "project topic"? I feel confused already!

I believe that the "project topic" is also considered the "problem." If the QSEN goal is informatics then your project topic would have something to do with problems or potential problems with informatics in healthcare that you can relate to the KSA's under informatics. That's how I understood it anyway.

They are officially trying to hurt us. These DBs and their complex formatting are gonna suck! :arghh:

The last two nursing classes I took (Family & Community) required the extra introduction and conclusion to be added to the DB posts. Though Family didn't tell us until week 4, and couldn't believe that we hadn't been doing the DB posts like that all along. HU? Yep, complete overkill.

Hoops, hoops and hoops. We'll definitely be able to jump higher when this is all done. :)

Is there complex formatting for the DB's? I don't remember anything like that.

Yes...that would be right. You are looking for areas that you can discuss improvement, changes, etc.

So i chose safety as my topic. the problem I decided on is surgical site infections. sounds right?

Besides the regular citing/references they now want an introduction and a conclusion on the DB posts, just like you would do for an essay paper.

They sure did turn up the volume this round!

I just took Global Health and we had 2 discussion boards due each week and each one of mine after Week 1 were at least 3 to 4 pages..it was probably the toughest class I have taken..now I need to get motivated for this one..procrastinating is not good :( can't wait to be done! at least for a little while.

I think I am thinking way to much into this!! I just handed in my first ICP goals and I am scared to get it back!! I am not sure I did it right. :nailbiting: I would hate to screw up the last class!!!

Has anyone tried to copy and paste their DB? I was affraid the formating would be lost (as usual) so I retyped it into the DB. Just an extra step:bored:

I copied and pasted. I'm not wasting my time trying to type into the discussion board. A classmate did and the formatting on hers looked horrible. I'm not sure what prompted them to suggest we type directly onto the board. That's asking for errors. I suggest you do Times New Roman font size 12 and set the board font to Times also. Mine looked fine once I hit submit.

I did the same thing. Copy and pasted too. It wasn't double spaced but I didn't care. Ill let you all know if I got docked for it or not.
