The syllabus for this class was emailed yesterday. Most non-clinical assignments are DB items. Clinical looks fairly straightforward that culminates in a research paper. These are not clinicals in the classical sense of the word. Each week you are asked to submit a small assignment such as topic of choice (from several choices), outline, plan and final paper.
Looks like they paired down previous assignments for this class to accommodate the 'clinical' component. No quizzes. Only one book required and it is an easy read.

Thanks. At least it sounds as if we are not expected to be doing a bunch of tests and papers along with trying to do the additional "clinical" component. Keep us posted!

Can you guys post more info on the clinicals when you are able. How much your preceptor is actually involved with it. I am trying to figure out how I am going to make this work, and how to find a preceptor for it. Thanks!!
Can do. Simply. I wondering the same about the clinicals. They said we needed 21 hours split up how ever we wanted but Im still unclear on the details

I second what Simply said!
They have not really spelled it out. They are calling the clinical component "INDIRECT CLINICAL" in other words...you are not spending time side by side like a clinical in undergrad nursing school. You are doing a "project" and whomever you choose will "consult" with you. However, they are not making you log these hours in any way. (21 hours total any way you want to incorporate them through the 5 weeks) You are really doing a project which culminates in a research paper. The only real requirement is a preceptor that has a BSN or MSN to sign a form in week one. At this point the school is being quite accommodating to this whole concept. In other words...don't sweat it!!
I did send some information to Mogdoth via email. Perhaps she can pass it along so you can know what to expect for next month.
Great thank you. This makes it much much more doable for me. I was kinda freaking over how I was going to make it work due to some circumstances in my life not being so accomodating for a preceptor at that time. I can do this!
If anyone wants syllabus info pm me, though it doesn't really give details about the clinical component. Thanks for the additional clinical info too EmJean.
I have not really started this class yet. I will share more about the requirements as I go along.
