Nursing Essay Question

I think it sounds good. It shows that you are a hard worker and determined. I would probably omit going to class even if you were sick though. Also maybe add why you want to be a nurse or why you want to go to this specific school. If you have any experience as a nurses aide, or volunteer you might want to add that as well.

Is there a question that your essay is supposed to be answering? I am wondering if you could add something more personal. i promise you that half the applicants went to class right after work(I did), so stating this will not stand out. also, your opening line states, "I have been confronted with several challenges", but you only list one. i.e. getting good grades. once again, this is something that every one of your classmates faced. I also might not say that you felt overwhelmed. If pre-reqs overwhelmed you, then they will not want to put you in challenging nursing classes or on a busy med surg floor in clinicals.

so i am applying again this year to the nursing program and last year i didn't make it only because of my score on the essay. i was wondering if some of you wouldn't mind reading what i wrote and give me any tips on to make it better. i appreciate all comments! thank you much!

upon determining that nursing was what i want to do as a career; i have been confronted with several challenges. the most significant challenge was to earn good grades in all of the required pre-requisites to better my score on the nursing program application. when i began taking my pre-requisites i was working a full time job, supporting myself, and taking evening classes on campus. at times i would feel so overwhelmed. i would literally get off work and get in my car and head to school to make sure i was in class on time. in order to make this routine work and get the grades i needed, i made sure to manage my time wisely, stay well organized and work hard. i went to every class (even if i was sick), i made sure to always be on time so i never missed anything, i asked questions when i didn’t understand, and i made sure i had enough time to study every day. in the end after all was said and done i reached my desired outcome and received a’s in all the required pre-requisites! from this experience and grueling routine i learned that hard work and perseverance will always pay off.

i don't know exactly what question you are trying to answer, but just reading through that just doesn't make you stand out. lots of people could also do the same things as you and also receive a's. most students ask questions in class and go to every single class. most people are on time. people who apply to nursing school tend to be extremely well rounded, so you can expect they do this stuff. you definitely showed that you worked hard, but the way you wrote it doesn't have any personal thought or "voice" in it. just make it more "you". i think that would help quite a bit.

in your newer draft, the ending sentence seemed really sudden. you randomly mention that you want to attend the school, when it had nothing to do with what you previously were talking about.

how long can the essay be? if it can be longer, definitely write more and go more into detail.

I've always been strong in english and one thing I learned about writing an essay to enter any program or school is that you do not write in an essay in effort for them to throw you a pity party. Do you know how many of these they will get? Plenty ! Tell them whats significant about YOU and maybe u can throw in here or there , but you can tie it all in a nutshell by emphazing these are all just obstacles. Speak more about the NEW you and mention the little obstacles. What are you doing now, and how has those obstacles shaped the person youve become. What characteristics have you acquired from those experiences to make you a great nurse. Be specific and tell them how your really feel and the person they dont see in your file. You are given an essay to express yourself beyond your grades and test scores. Nursing is a hard career and after reading this , there going to say SO WHAT. This is one obstacle you have listed here, there are people that have 3+ kids work full time and gto school. I agree with others, tell us what the question is for the essay. As others have said, lots of people work and go to school and receive good grades.
