I live in MA and have an LPN diploma that I received from a 10-month program. At the LPN level, I don't think it matters (at least around here it doesn't- not sure about your state). Seems like if you're going to spend two years in school it might be more worth your while to apply to an Associates RN program, unless the waiting lists are too long or something like that. Hope this helps :)

I do know a degree is ultimatly better but i wanted to know how was it to have a diploma from a tech school ...do you know how it works if you wantd to go 4ward wit your education?

O and im from philly

When I was in school for my LPN program it was for a Diploma then you have to take state boards. Was a good tough program, very thourough. However; my advice go straight for your RN!!!!!

I wish I did, I waited 6 years before finally going back.

Good Luck!

My LPN program in Florida has agreement with a local juco college to allow us LPN grad to articulate to full RN diploma. I think we'll be awarded a A.A.S not sure 100% sure.

Never heard of an associates LPN. What's the point? If your going to get an AS why would you get an LPN and not RN. You will have a lot more options with an RN.

Go for an RN program. Period.

And when u went back what was the process?..this is my situation im a mother of 3 relocating back to my home state after just picking up and leaving to go to ga i wany to go for rn but im looking to do something quick to get a good job for me and my 3 children and then once my foots in the door and their older and im situated i want to go back...and im a lil scared of the pre req part of school im 33 and havnt been in school for awhile and i really dont have no clue where to start....i have been to tech school for dental assistant but not in the feild now...

There's many of us on these forums who have successfully completed LPN programs at trade schools and technical colleges. I completed an LVN program at a trade school back in late 2005 and was able to find my first nursing job one day after having received my temporary license.

However, you're probably already aware that the national economy is in the dumps at this present time. Be aware that having job training, a diploma, and an LPN license will not guarantee you a job because the nursing job market is in shambles in many parts of the U.S.

Yes, I said it. There are many unemployed and underemployed LPNs and RNs who would love to work. However, they cannot find a job in this economic climate.
