Nursing Advertisements

Ok, so this might not bother some people, but for me it does. Whenever i go online the only nursing advertisements i see depict a female nurse holding a baby. While its cute i just dont understand the point of it. There are a hundred more things that nursing involves. Do they think that the only reason we want to become nurses is to hold babies. If your going to keep busting out these advertisements at least spice it up a little by having a male nurse. That way your at least representing the male population too.

Well what gets it for me is seeing ads for nursing featuring big blonde breasted nurses that are slim and ooze sex appeal.Really?Nursing is not a sexy job, and neither is wearing scrubs considered sexy.Where do people get this whole naughty nurse thing in their heads?

The thing about online advertising is that a lot of it is done by internet affiliate marketers. Loans, grants, online education, second careers...these are all HUGE areas of marketing that, when done right, pay $$$$ for information such as emails, completed applications and of course, paying customers. Take a trip to online marketing forums such as WickedFire.com, and you will find not all, but a vast majority of internet affiliate marketers are actually 17-25 yr old young men

You have to understand, things such as sexy online ads and "news" articles that proclaim nursing shortages are very likely being promoted by people who haven't got the slightest clue about nursing, or the other professions, loans, educational programs and herbal supplements they might be promoting as well.

Ads are not anything if not politically incorrect. Normally. Say nurse and the first that pops into peoples head is Nurse Betty. And of course males only make up about 10% of the nursing population. So its not surprising that the models they pick for these ads are usually Caucasian females. Heck even look at the nurse similie...:nurse:...

'don't know how old this is, but proofs this has been going on for a long time.

Sex sells.

Ads with babies are very appealing.

People who put these things together have done their homework so that what they put out will reap the rewards they are looking for. The ads are geared to hit specific points of reaction.

yea, and I still don't know how they got that picture of me! :hpygrp:

Well....if they advertised what nurses REALLY do, have to tolerate, and are responsible for...umm...the nursing programs would be extinct. Everybody knows we're somewhere in a closet with Dr. McDreamy and all patients, visitors and doctors are SO nice and appreciative!
