Did Hillary really say nurses are glorified sitters ?..... No fact to support

Nurses Activism

OK, there are a lot of people at work saying that at some time Hillary Clinton said that nurses pay is way too high and that they are just glorified baby sitters. Has any one else heard this. I've looked at may sights on her and can't find it. If she did say that, it needs to be made known. Nurses are a large voting population. I hope for her sake she didn't say that. Is that part of her medical reform plan ?:idea::o:angryfire :pumpiron:

i have heard that statement .. but i can't find where it came from either... does anyone know?? one of the doctors at work said hillary said that nurses will have pay cuts and we will be working for min wage if she gets elected. of course the doc is on vaction now so i can't ask him... hillary needs to walk a day in our shoes...

I'm not interested enough in this type of ridiculous smear campaign to do any research, but it does seem highly unlikely that the American Nurses' Association would have endorsed her for President, which they have done, if she had actually said anything of the sort ...

No. This has been discussed here and no one has yet to provide a citation of the actual quote.

Something tells me if she did say such a thing, the ANA wouldn't have endorsed her candidacy.

How do you know it is a "ridiculous smear campaign" if you do not bother to research it? Just because she was endorsed by the American Nurses' Association does not mean that she did not make the comment. It could have been done after the endorsement. Maybe her true colors are coming out. :innerconf

I think Arnold in Calif made some disparaging remarks, if I'm not mistake.

No candidate in their right mind would say that -- no candidate of either party. It would be foolish to act on such a rumor, or to spread it unless more information is provided.

The allegation was floating around long before the recent ANA endorsement. There have been a few threads on this board already discussing it and, as EG pointed out, no one has ever come up with an actual source/citation for the supposed comment -- and I'm quite confident the ANA would have done its homework before making a public commitment to her. I also agree with llg that no candidate of either party, whatever s/he believed in her/his heart of hearts, would be so stupid as to make such a comment in public.

I'm always suprised that anyone takes these sorts of allegations seriously.

I wouldn't doubt if something she said was taken out of context and printed.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that if our salaries were decreased, the nursing shortage would reach disastrous proportions as many of us would leave the profession in utter disgust.

I wouldn't be surprised if proponents of universal healthcare wanted nursing wages to go down. This is a very real problem. Nursing care is a huge expense for hospitals and other healthcare entities.
