Nursing acceptance letter to Chicago City Colleges(Truman, Daley, or Malcolm X)

U.S.A. Illinois

Did any prenursing students receive acceptance letters from any of Chicago City Colleges yet? I have not receive mine and just trying to get an idea.

Thanks

I also agree with ana banana! I turned in my application a week before & I got in. If you have all your pre-reqs done before applying I'm sure you will get in! Truman is based on points and Daley is more about GPA. Does anyone have any info on how to get the nursing books for CHEAPER?? $800 for books is just ridiculous!! =(

Hello everyone,

I just went the info session tonight at Truman...don't quote me on it but I believe that if you take a higher level math that would be okay... that was my understanding just from what was said when people were asking questions..but you should call and ask just to make sure!

Hanwinting,

A higher level math will be accepted. Truman accepted my finite math from UIC for math 118/125 requirement even though completed 12 year ago.

First, go see an advisor in room 1112. Bring an opened transcript from the school and brochure (not required but helpful in case advisor needs detail on math class). Ask for Thomas A Mikula, as he was very helpful.

Afterward, go to Registrar's Office room 1220 and have transcript evaluated. You will need a sealed transcript and fill out an evaluation form. Within 4 - 6 weeks, if the class is accepted, it will appear in my.ccc.edu under Transfer Credit.

Same process for any transferable classes. Complete this process as soon as possible. It takes times for evaluation.

thanks for replying to my post. I have already submitted my application :).

has anyone applied to daley nursing program, i really dont understand why it takes soo long to get your letter? i am so anxious to know, has anyone applied to any other nursing schools?

All applications are going to CCC. Everyone will be notified on May 2nd, probably by email.

I'm currently enrolled at Truman, taking 3 of the 4 prerequisites for the nursing program. I plan to take the 4th (ENG 101) during the summer along with one of the general educational courses (MICRO 233 or BIO 226). My question is, what is my chances of getting into the nursing program for either Truman or Malcolm X? I'm a straight A student, always have been. I know Truman goes off a point scale, but come fall when I apply, will the 4 prerequisites and and maybe 1 general educational course be enough to get me in the Truman program? Also, how does the Malcolm X program work? I notice that ENG 101 is considered a general educational class and not a prerequisite. Do they use a point scale too? I'm really looking forward to getting into the program, but if I don't get in, waiting 2 years to get in is a long time. Any help with what the chances are would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Well, they actually just changed everything during this most recent admissions timeframe..and now you only need Chemistry, Biology, Math, and that COMPASS test to qualify to get in. I don't think we'll know what's around the lowest points they accepted until the emails/letters are sent out because they did change it after most people had already turned in their applications. Here's the link to how they are doing the rankings this year: http://www.trumancollege.edu/documents/NursingRankingandSelectionprocess.pdf

Thanks for that insight! I had no idea they changed it up. I have attended the nursing info session and I'm taking all the prerequisites this semester. That said, I'll have 57 points at the end of this semester. This summer, I'll take BIO 226 and MICRO 233, pulling my point total up to 89 (given I get straight A's). I'm in the National Guard as a Medic and so I do have my EMT license, but I see they only look at that in the case of a tie breaker...bummer. I do recall from the info session that last year the lowest score someone had and got in was 76 points. I really do want to get in, so I'm gonna push to take ENG 101 as an online course this summer. We shall see. Thanks again Smokey, I appreciate it.

You're welcome hon!! I hope you get in!!! GOOD LUCK!!
