  1. Amazing. You must be excellent writer. what was your strategy? Ignore cos and focus on oa and pa? I work 3 12 hours with two kids. Just hope I could finish within the year.
  2. Thank you both. I am just concern with writing papers. In addition, the syllabi and cos looks daunting.
  3. I have been accepted to wgu rn bsn program. After transcripts eval, I have 37 credit units to complete which includes stat, biochem, issues in behavioral science and nursing core. I hope to complete it within 12 months. Beside the low tuition, their selling point is go at your own pace and complete it faster. Is this the norm or exception? My alternative is Purdue Calumet 15 months rn bns with no prereq. Please share your experience with the program.
  4. Hanwinting, A higher level math will be accepted. Truman accepted my finite math from UIC for math 118/125 requirement even though completed 12 year ago. First, go see an advisor in room 1112. Bring an opened transcript from the school and brochure (not required but helpful in case advisor needs detail on math class). Ask for Thomas A Mikula, as he was very helpful. Afterward, go to Registrar's Office room 1220 and have transcript evaluated. You will need a sealed transcript and fill out an evaluation form. Within 4 - 6 weeks, if the class is accepted, it will appear in my.ccc.edu under Transfer Credit. Same process for any transferable classes. Complete this process as soon as possible. It takes times for evaluation.
  5. Baila, thanks for sharing. I haven't receive a letter, but afraid I might be in the same situation. I still have 2 more pre-reqs.
  6. Good point. But how come it is OK to name names in positive experiences? I came across posting where instructor names are listed. So it is not allowed in negative experiences? Or because instructors visit the site? As a potential student at the college, I want to learn more about instructors from another student's perspectives. Whose wants to be stuck with a horrible instructor, waste time, and money? These are opinions not libel. This is just my method. Secondly, instructors should not shy away from negative comments. If everything is great, the posting would not have been created. There must be some legitimacy. Also, students from the college could disagree with the original posting.
  7. I apologize about the names. I could have left them out. However, what happen to freedom of speech? Is this an open forum? My intension is not libel, but simply getting an idea on instructors teaching methods. TraumaRUs, have you ever asked classmates/friends whether instructor x is better than instructor y? Whose teaching method is more effective? I'm sure we all have. As consumers, we compare to gather information.
  8. baila, Daley's nursing dept said the same thing about they haven't had an admission meeting. The secretary said students will be notified before end of April.
  9. HoopZ20, Is Malcolm X nursing program that bad? I applied there plus Truman and Daley, but haven't receive an acceptance letter. Is any of these nursing instructors good? Which one would you recommend/avoid? Thanks
  10. Thank you for all your responses. I guess we just have to keep our fingers crossed.
  11. Did any prenursing students receive acceptance letters from any of Chicago City Colleges yet? I have not receive mine and just trying to get an idea. Thanks
  12. I am in a similar predicament. I am a hbv carrier. As part of pre-employment process for a cna position in a hospital, I have to do a drug and physical exam where blood will be drawn. It is wise/required to disclose my infection prior to the physical exam? Is there a clear cut rule about hbv and employment as a nurse in the united states? thks
  13. Is it wise to take chemistry, anatomy + physiology(one class), and microbiology at the same time? I am unemployed, but striving to get A's in my prereqs. Afterward, I only have anatomy 2 as prereq. I figure it might help my nursing application at truman college/daley college in chicago. Application deadline is Feb 1st.
  14. Thanks for sharing your experience. I did not work with any blind resident. The residents and employees are pretty nice. However, I wish we received more training.
  15. I am in the program. Tomorrow is our final exam and last day. Just a few words about the CNA program at CTCC. Instructor **** is very nice. She is funny and makes the class fun. She will tell students what to study and highlight in text book. The class is very easy. Just read highlights and most of it is all common sense. Fastest CNA program I know in Chicago, but expensive. Hopefully, this information is helpful. website: http://www.careertrainingcenterofchicago.com/ Tuition: $700 as of July 2009. Payment in 3 installments during registration, before midterm & before final. Additional Cost: $65 for book, $15 background check, $10 stethoscope, uniform $25 (must be all white), CPR card $43 (optional), Alzheimer certificate $25 (optional), $60 application for state test Duration: 4 weeks of lecture (tues, wed, thurs) 9am - 2pm or 5pm - 10pm, 5 saturdays of clinical Workload: Read from highlights in book, 4 exams (premidterm, midterm, prefinal, & final exam) all multiple choice questions, skill tests (vital signs, range of motion excercises, bathing, shaving, combing and washing hair, & oral care, 3 take home tests (easy mult choices questions), and one page paper on any disease in text book. Pulaski Ave, chicago, IL 60646 OR St. Pauls House & Health Care Center - 3800 N. California Ave. Chicago, IL 60618 Comment about clinical: I was assigned to St. Pauls. Not much direction/training after 1st saturday of orientation. Students were assigned to 1 resident each starting 2nd clincial without guidance/help from other CNA/nurses. We helped residents with changing clothes, bathing, feeding, walking, and talking with them.
