Nurses who smoke marijuana

Published

I believe it is no employers business with what I do after work OFF duty. I have the right to smoke a joint if I want to. I'm a responsible adult MJ smoker and would never come into work stoned. Ever. I don't do any other drugs, drink alcohol, or smoke cigarettes. I do a great job, love my patients, always arrive to work on time, do what I'm supposed to do as a health professional.

Testing positive for a drug does not suggest impairment. I think we can all agree on that fact.

Tip for other MJ smokers:

From what I understand it is better to refuse to take a drug test knowing you will test positive than actually take the test; because your license could be revoked.

Drug testing is a clear violation of our 4th amendment rights.

Am I for drug tests? Absolutely. Pre-employment and poor job performance. Random? No way.:banghead:

fumes in traffic is comparable to smoking weed since when ,does traffic fumes alter your state of mind , like weed does?

Now that is still another subject...sit in enough stalled traffic on a hot day.. fumes...diesel... now that's enough to cause road rage and kill brain cells....but we're getting off the subject.:smokin:

There is not really a risk of losing your license if you smoke MJ.

You will only lose your license if you take the test and fail it.

You won't lose your license by quitting the job on the spot.

(And cheating drug tests is so terribly easy! I have done it many times and always succeeded).

I recommend all who smoke MJ not to be fearful....knowledge is power :)

I get where you're coming from, kind of. Here is my two cents. I was never a drinker and I really use to like smoking pot. But, when I had pot, I would smoke it morning, noon and night, whenever I could. I stayed so lazy and hungry most the time too. I can see that it's not any different from having any other addiction but it's still an addiction, maybe not physically, but psychologically it is! If we were allowed to smoke pot and be nurses......I would probably want to take a couple of tokes off my pipe before I left for work in the morning, I use to smoke at work being a bartender. Some people that smoke pot probably wouldn't do that, but to me, it's just addicting enough that I would. That is why I stay away from it. Although I would LOVE to smoke a good joint, it's just NOT WORTH IT, we're in a very serious and professional business of saving peoples lives and that just doesn't go with pot. If your self will is strong enough that you can control it well, then more power to ya. Just dont' lose your license.:D

My oldest son lives in So. Cal (although he is in Portland right now on vacation). He usually calls me while in bumper to bumper on the 405 and chats so he doesn't succumb to road rage. :coollook:
