  1. I repeat for all MJ smokers: You won't lose your license by denying the test and quitting on the spot. You won't have a job, sure, but as we all know nursing is in high demand and it will be easy to find another job. NEVER submit to a drug test. Quit on the spot BEFORE they are able to fire you. You are then safe and your license is safe.
  2. There is not really a risk of losing your license if you smoke MJ. You will only lose your license if you take the test and fail it. You won't lose your license by quitting the job on the spot. (And cheating drug tests is so terribly easy! I have done it many times and always succeeded). I recommend all who smoke MJ not to be fearful....knowledge is power :)
  3. People who smoke MJ should not submit to a drug test. Attorneys in many states will agree it is best to quit right there on the spot and challenge them in court. This protects your license from being revoked in many states.
  4. California recently passed a law that says if you're an MJ patient employers can't fire you for testing positive for MJ. Thank goodness CA got the right picture. It will eventually spread to other states...
  5. If you test positive for marijuana it does not actually mean you're currently under the influence of the drug. I could smoke a joint on my day off, take a urine test 2 weeks later, and fail the test. Was I still stoned 2 weeks later? Absolutely not. That's the problem: Drug testing hurts ultimately marijuana smokers the most. You can do some awfully hardcore drugs and virtually pass any random test because they're out of your system in a matter of days. That is the problem.
  6. Nurses can drink alcohol off duty. Why is that okay but marijuana is not? What about those people who are MJ patients?
  7. I believe it is no employers business with what I do after work OFF duty. I have the right to smoke a joint if I want to. I'm a responsible adult MJ smoker and would never come into work stoned. Ever. I don't do any other drugs, drink alcohol, or smoke cigarettes. I do a great job, love my patients, always arrive to work on time, do what I'm supposed to do as a health professional. Testing positive for a drug does not suggest impairment. I think we can all agree on that fact. Tip for other MJ smokers: From what I understand it is better to refuse to take a drug test knowing you will test positive than actually take the test; because your license could be revoked. Drug testing is a clear violation of our 4th amendment rights. Am I for drug tests? Absolutely. Pre-employment and poor job performance. Random? No way.
  8. I finished a CNA class 4 weeks ago. Everyday for 4 weeks have been filling out apps, handing them in person, calling DON/HR, going back in person, etc. Not really much action. Except this one place. I got an interview for tomorrow but I'm not very happy about the pay: $10 without benefits $8 with benefits I think that's pretty crappy pay:bluecry1:. I live in MA. I could work at walmart and make $10/hr as a cashier and have a heck of a lot easier time. I'd like to say my job should not be dictated by money but in these tough times I have to sometimes think about the money!
