Nurses: we do seduce our patients

From a survey in England:

The survey's findings suggest a significant proportion of Britain's 400,000 nurses are prepared to run the risk of sanctions for sleeping with patients. Almost one in 10 nurses think starting a relationship with one of their patients is acceptable.

From the comments section:

I doubt that 1/10 nurses would have a sexual relationship with their patient - would love to see them find the time!

Are we are talking about trained nurses or other care workers. A large proportion of care in hospitals is now provided by non-nurses, but who are often collectively termed 'nurses' by the public.

so what...They aren't nuns, after all.

Oh goody! I'm going in for a hip operation on my 86th birthday. I might get laid at last. :smokin:

Also what do you mean by less than one nurse out of ten,it is either one nurse out of ten or zero....??You split the nurse in half...her heart says yes but the body no???LOL

I've yet to meet the nurse who thinks dating, or trying to date, a patient, would be a good idea. We had an aide who um, had no such inhibitions (not there now, you need a work ethic to work) and whenever the topic came up, each nurse would suddenly get that look on her face like she smelled poop.

I also think the article was sensationalist. Lord Mancroft obviously has an ax to grind against NHS nurses. And because of his peerage, he gets the spotlight when using the bully pulpit. But, judging from the readers comments, I don't think his charges or the survey findings were taken that seriously. A lot of the posters had fun with it....love that British humor.

yes we do like to ridicule the peerage over here :D

i've known a few nurses (all male) who admit to sleeping with patients or family of patients while the patient was still their patient. while they all claim not to see anything wrong wrong with their actions, all of them told me the stories in strictest confidence and while we were either drinking or dating. (or both.) i guess that says a lot. if they truly didn't see anything wrong with it, why not just admit to it? not that i'm expecting anyone to just walk in and tell the boss "i slept with the patient in 302", but if they truly see nothing wrong with it, why not just admit to one's co-workers when the subject comes up in conversation at the local watering hole after work that they don't see anything wrong with it? why wait until we're alone, and then only admit to it in strictest confidence?

Dating patients??? Eeeww...
