Nurses please try to look a little more polished at work

To the smokers I work with, please do yourselves and patients a favor by brushing your teeth after smoking. the smell of smoke makes me gag, and I feel sorry for your already nauseated patients.

To the supervisor that baths in his cologne... don't. it smells horrible.

To the nurse with the huge blond hair. it looks like a bomb was set off in your hair. did you use a whole bottle of stiff on it? and you may want to wear better fitting scrubs, I'm curvy as well, but I don't like to show my curves at work.

Yes, I do like to wear make up and manicured nails( no chipping, or fakes nails) to work everyday. not only does it make me feel good but patients notice as well. looks are first impressions, and I like to make a good one.

I was laughing at a co-worker during an RRT because her pants were so tight every time she reached for something out of the lower drawers of the code cart she kept showing everyone her butt crack. She later confessed that she was embarrassed and stopped wearing such tight pants to work.

Some brands of scrubs are cut to be more sexy than functional. Slim pants with no side pockets to carry anything. Tops with two tiny front pockets that don't have compartments. The most you can carry in them are a few pens and a flush or two. Pants so thin and tight you can see the color of flesh or the print of their panties...if they wear them.

My sister in law wears her scrubs so tight, I don't see how she gets anything done.

Repeat post.

I have a co-worker who wears her pants so tight that the seams are literally pulling apart. On top of that, she folds the waistband down so that they're even more low riding than they were to begin with. One day, a resident was trying to pinch her butt and said "I don't know what size pants you've squeezed yourself into but they're so tight I can't even pinch them up!" Every time she bends over, we all see about 4 inches of buttcrack. She isn't a slim jim either. The difference is that she isn't embarrassed in the slightest.

Another co-worker wears lacy, ruffled thongs and g-strings. I know this because every time she bends over, her panties are several inches above the waistline of her pants.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. I used to wear tight scrubs just starting out as a CNA at 16. However, I quickly learned that was not professional for work. Besides, I was uncomfortable which restricted me during patient care. I come to work to do my job and go home, not to look like a sex bomb.

I also hate tattoos. I will probably get beat up for saying this, but they are just trashy and ugly and I don't know why anyone wants to get them. There. Let the beatings begin.

No beatings from me. When I was 16, I was stupid enough to get a tatoo. Thank goodness I was atleast smart enough to get it on my upper back so no one ever sees it. I hate tats too. They look a mess when you get old.

This is only slightly related but the "sex bomb" comment reminded me of something. My best friend and I used to work at a SEWING FACTORY. The daily garb was jeans and a t-shirt. You got dirty from the dyes in the jeans, oil from the machines, etc, etc, etc.

My friend? She came to work every day dressed like she was going to the club. The men stared and the woman talked. She had no idea how much everyone was making fun of her.

Which part of his grace covers a condescending, smarmy attitude?

- Personal hygiene must be adhered to. (not sure how this one is enforced- would you really go up to an emoloyee and tell them they stink?)

I've done it, in a previous career...hardest thing I ever had to do.

nope. ocnrn63 are you just trying to be "mean" by leading our impaired members astray? dontcha just know that the little snowflakes as cute as they are, are gonna take that krazyglue and get it on their fingers - which will go right up their noses (where those fingers are when snowflakes have to think hard), and then guess what?!?! they will be unable to drive to work, and unable to call in either.

or they could be like me. i use it all the time on the nasty finger cracks i get. one day i put some on when i was sitting at the desk. i turned to talk to one of the docs, and he said "do you know you just put your finger on your cheek after you used that krazyglue?" when i took my finger away, i pulled off a chunk of skin on my cheek, and my face started bleeding. i had to walk around for about an hour with a piece of tissue on my face. then my patients said to me "do you know you have something on your face?"

this special snowflake is much more careful about where she puts her fingers after she uses glue.

there are so many nurses out there who just don't give a damn about their looks, makeup hasn't killed anyone, it is designed to be used. that's what makes us feminine. anyone can find 5 -10 minutes for themselves . you don't have to look like rainbow, use nude, neutral colors. this bothers me the most: nurses who wear super tight scrubs, first i can see your thongs/ underwear a mile away, second i can see your cellulites, 3r buy better scrubs!

if you think femininity is defined by wearing makeup, then there's no point in further discussion.

hear, hear. seriously, the stuff is filthy ... and i should put it on my face every day??? yuck!

the point being that clean, reasonably groomed and non-obtrusive is the key ... plenty of room for personal style otherwise.
