Nurses pictures on patients whiteboards???

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi, I was recently informed that I had to have my picture taken for a "new project" at our hospital. Nsg admin is gonna take all staff nurses pics and then put them up in the rooms of the patients that nurse is assigned to for the shift. I find that a little bit strange myself. We are a small community hospital (25 beds including ICU and OB) and everyone works 12 hr shifts, so it's not like we r continually changing assignments, staff, etc. Does anyone else have anything like this where they work? we also have the white boards with r name, title, doc, etc in every room.

they'd have to be big pictures so the patients could all see them from their beds...what if you don't have that room on your assignment one day? is it up to the nurses to put the pictures in the right rooms? grumble.

I like the name thing, but pictures is just more work for the nurses...

Why not replace their flat screen tv with a digital picture frame of their nurse of the day.:uhoh3:

... It's not that I am opposed to having my patients and their families know who I am...

Really? I don't. What kind of nurse are you:clown:.

Oy.....the flatscreen plan would be really lousy :D

One place I worked at was starting to get photos of everyone (5x7s). Yet, the name tags were written in microscopic print. How helpful :uhoh3:

As a patient, I'd like to have a better idea of who was who (and after weeks of a parade of different staff shuffling through, it was a feminine canine to keep everyone straight). But I'm not sure I'd want a wall album of who was there....just a clear name tag, and the board w/names was fine.

But as a nurse, I'd hate it. I don't like my family having photos of me. Or the DMV, or anybody.

It's not about patients having a photo of me to memorize for future complaints  But I don't like my photo out and around anywhere. My FB profile pic is my dog :D

Wait...you mean that picture of you doesn't mean you are actually a goat? Man I had this whole "connection to my warm and fuzzy youth as a goat farmer" moment with you. And yeah...I really did grow up on a goat farm.

NO, that's why I didn't want my photo out there-- you know, livestock discrimination, and all :D

Actually, that photo reminds me of the goats in TX that climb trees all the time....be driving down the road minding my own business , and come upon a tree full of goats, just munching leaves and watching the cars go by.....kinda creepy :D

I dont have a problem with having my photo and name on a board at the beginning of the floor. In fact we have one and the patients and relatives especially the new ones like it

No way! Not to derail this thread but I need you to post a picture of that in Central!

I don't have a scanner yet, but as soon as I get one (or find a similar photo) I'll do that :D

Great.

Now my pts will think Mrs. Potato Head will be their nurse for the shift.

I am not photogenic!!

don't laugh. my hospital wants to put a digital picture of their nurse for the day on their flat screen -- as one of their channel choices.

I think this is very insulting to anyone with half a wit.

#1, the patient. Its like you can't read, so here is a picture of your nurse.

#2 Just incase you cant' tell the nursing staff apart. This is me your RN or LVN..

Rubbish.
