What is your biggest pet peeve about being in nursing school or things that happened while you were in nursing school???
Don't you hate it when:
you study your *$$ off and still dont get an A!
when you hear nursing students say "ewww thats gross" or "it stinks in here, im gonna throw up" or "ew i cant chage a depends thats so gross" -that drives me nuts! i dont know how these students will make it in the world of nursing....
come on nursing students i know we all have something that really irks us about school (even though we all loooove it!)....
LMAO....weren't those "earbugs" meant for DRIVNG!?!?! I know they werent meant for the classroom! ok i'll prob get burned for this one but it kinda drives me crazy when people bring their small children to class...kudos to all those who have kids but I dont think the classroom is the place for them...especially when they make a lot of noise bc they are bored to death![/quoteOk, I can understand the classroom, but at my school they aren't allowed in the classrooms, or the library, or the computer lab. Basically there's a no children allowed sign --which is kind of rude.
ugh! cracking knuckles!!! can't stand it!
ummm....sorry.
my ocd takes over and i have to do all 10!!:uhoh21: sometimes twice.
but, atleast i wasn't the one with the cousinunclesisterfathersonmotherauntfosterdaughter that had every common and/or rare ailment. twice.
she argued every day with an instructor. she claimed to have had herself (or a family member) every thing they said was rare or never seen in our country.
evidently her brother had chicken pox 6 times. six! we spent 15 minutes of quality class time on that.she in fact already knew all about nursing. we didn't know why she was with us other remedial students. me and my table partner kept a log in my notebook of everytime she stopped class for some idiocy. when she finally got dropped(for a careplan, go figure she couldn't plan care:smackingf ) we averaged 6-10 pages more of notes per day!!!
the one with the cousinunclesisterfathersonmotherauntfosterdaughter that had every common and/or rare ailment. Twice.
Dear Lord, why is there one in every class?? I get frustrated because we only have X amount of time for lecture, and the test is next class, and this one starts in and derails the whole lecture. AAARGGGH!!!!
My biggest pet peeve in school was being assigned to a group project, and the other group members don't want to pull their weight. We all know the type: the lazy types who want to skid by on your hard work.
I so agree with your post! I learned to hate team or group projects because of it! I'm glad I'm out of school!
last quarter in AP1 there were three or 4 girls who, using your term, we could definetly call plastics. They sat a row beneath me and I sat and watched/heard them EVERY single test CHEAT!! they didnt even try to conceal it! theyd lean over eachother, push their tests toward the other person and kick them under the table...theyd also write little messages on the desk....so unfair!! i studied hard and aced my tests on my own...i know someone in the class turned them in at the end of the quarter, i hope they got what they deserved!!! oh and the funny pa rt was that they didnt even ace their tests...there were 4 of them and they still got C's...lmao....hope none of them are ever MY nurse....whew...
Wow, that's awful. We are watched like hawks in class. Everyone has to sit at least 4 seats away from the person next to them and two rows behind the person in front of them.
I second (err, third) that. I have had classes with one or two people (females of the "alpha" type) who seem to think that they know everything...and man, they aren't afraid to let anyone else forget that they know everything. Some times one of them is down right snooty! The worst thing is that this girl brought up her religious beliefs one day and preached to everyone about "being a good witness to everyone" and then turned around and was so snooty and rude to some of the people in our class. I bring this up with out intending to offend anyone who has religious beliefs... I just thought her behavior was (and still is) so rude!
I have a few pet peeves I just realized this morning while posting under another forum and I have to agree with some on here!
I HATE HATE HATE instructors that are apathetic towards their students/students work. I just switched out a clinical group where the teacher refused to hand out ANY contact information to the student; she didnt want to be bothered outside of work. Then when we were going over our med sheets, she didnt help us and didnt even grade it! None of us had the same answers, so some of us were definetely wrong. :angryfire
And I hate snotty nursing girls. Most are straight out of high school and think that that things go the same way here, WRONG. There is one group in particular in my classes that I cant STAND.
AND one more (sorry). I hate people that think they know more than the instructor because they work in a hospital. If you know so darn much, why are you taking picture in the NICU and not a nurse?!?! One of the girls in my lecture class corrects the teacher non-stop, under her breath and to our group of course (for the most part). One class we were doing a patient write up and there was description of a Stage 2 pressure ulcer. The girl kept saying it was a "1". I finally told her, "Look, put what you want to put, but Im not changing my answer". The answer was given and she was WRONG, so I pointed out "Make sure you mark that wrong". She got mad and tried to argue w/ the teacher, who in turn put her in her place. :yelclap: I know its mean to be happy about that, but cmon now, you are not the teacher!!!
One thing I always hated was that some people in the class were the favorites and got special treatment. We had one teacher who was incredibly inappropriate, calling them at home, inviting them out to lunch outside of class, socially, but excluding most of the class. This same teacher would talk about students to other students, about their grades, whether or not she thought they would make it thorugh the program. In front of the whole class she would roll her eyes at another senior instructor (whom is the nicest person in the entire world and very smart!). On certain days she would lecture us about professionalism (I know what nerve). I guess I can't even say that I thought she was a good teacher, bc she wasn't. She would speed through lectures concentrating on one small point and shrugging off the rest. To this day I still have to reteach my self med surg (for NCLEX). I saw her virtually persecute my friend all over a misunderstanding. The rest of the year she was so hard on her she finally was forced out of the program. She graded her paper at a 30%, which she knew would get her kicked out of our program. Her paper wasnt A material but it wasnt a 30% either, that is, compared to the papers that she gave A's to. Its just sad that such a potentially good teacher and great class turned out to be such a waste, couldve been such a good class. Too bad.

I hated the people who would never listen and the teacher would have to repeat themselves. I also was very annoyed with these 2 certain people who shouldnt have graduated.
