Any nurses interested in a mission trip to west africa in 2008. If anyone of you is interested please send me a pm or email me. You can also ask question on this thread. Remember, the true definnition of our passion is realized when we make a difference in this world with our passion.
I'm calling out once again. If anybody is interested in coming to serve with me in Ghana, West Africa , he/she should let me know. The trip is schedule for mid May to early June , 2008. You'll be responsible for tickets (got mine for $1400) and I'll find you a host. The harvest is plenty but the workers are few....
Also, if you have any nursing accessories that you would like to donate, please let me know. If you also want to help in anyway let me know.

I am a 2nd year university BSN nursing student and my school is taking a 3 week trip in may 2008 to go volunteer in Ghana, Africa. Our coordinator also said that the plane ticket would cost us each around $1500 and plus a couple hundred for the cost of the host family. Our school has never gone before and I was wondering what other costs to expect? and if fundraising might a possibility?
i am looking to start a group for nurses interested in volunteering in africa. myself being from ghana ,africa and a nurse, i know firsthand the need back home. so if you are interested in volunteering somewhere in ghana or somewhere in thewestern africa region , then, let me know. i can do most of the homework as far as finding hospitals or clinics where we can volunteer , lodging, transport etc. i am planning on going to africa next year. if anybody is willing to work with me just drop me an email or a private message. this will be a excellent cross-cultural experience , where one can learn about different cultures while doing what he/she is most passionate about. as i said, i can do most of the home work. i need people to assist me in this undertaking. who knows? this might go on to be "nurses without borders". there are several missions out there that mainly work in africa and we can affiliate with them too if it becomes neccessary. looking forward to reading your response.
hello! are you still interested in setting up a 'nurses without borders' type of thing? i am currently in my senior year of an rn to bsn program (after 25+ years' experience as an rn) and want to do some sort of exchange program with african nurses. my goal is to both stimulate us nurses to remember their calling and also to learn from african community health programs on our side, and maybe share some of the outreach programs and opportunities in nursing with african rns. what do you think? i was in south africa in fall '07 and had originally thought to work in that area, but am interested in what you're addressing here!

The trip will cost anywhere close to $3000. That incudes a round trip ticket (which is about 75% of the estimated cost) , transportation in Ghana and accomodation, that is , including food. If we find cheaper tickets, that will be awesome but as of now we're looking at ticket prices anywhere from $1900 and below. I've been in contact with a whole lot of medical facilities that will be honoured to have as work with them. As I indicated in my earlier post, I will be responsible for finding accomodation , transportation in Ghana and other necessities, and will also be your guide because I know my way around Ghana. Nobody gives me anything,we're working together as a team with one purpose. If anybody is still interested or if u have any questions, please PM me.
