I doubt you can work as a nursery nurse if you do not have your nurse license

is there a way for me to study and at the same time work? i guess id lose my uninterrupted years of experience as a nicu nurse both in philippines and uk then. is that right?

If you applied as an international student and needed a F1 student visa you need to show proof of funds that cover tuition, fees, room& board and incidental living expenses for the duration of your study. You would need an in state nursing license to attend a graduate nursing program. To work on a student visa you would be limited to on campus work and part time hours. It's unlikely that on campus work would include nursing

You should be alert of the frustrations and disappointment of trying to get a CA RN license if from the Phils, due to primarily the concurrency issues as well as possible lack of certain course requirements or possible lack of sufficient clinical hours at the minimum level to obtain the ATT.

Unless you obtained your BSN prior to 2005, you may be approved to take the NCLEX-RN in CA, if after those years, then all bets are off and be prepared to having to re-take those deficient courses in which the placement to get into them are few and far in between and can cost upwards to USD $14,000-17,000.

As with most US state's BON (CA especially), years of paid acute hospital experience will not be counted towards meeting any college course deficiencies. It is based strictly on your college transcripts and the evaluation review process.

There are many good reads in this forum section to get yourself familiar with the plight of the PH nurses and grads. You'll find you're not alone amongst the 10,000 plus PH applicants now stranded and frustrated in just CA alone.

Getting any other out-of-state RN license and trying to endorse back into CA will not work, that back door method is now closed as you must still pass the same exact requirements of the CA BRN that would have denied the application in the first place.

@steppybay is there any way that i can let them assess my records first so they can inform me of what i lack?

Your application with CABRN will be open for a 3 year period. If you present proof of completing the required areas (most reported is medical surgical & obstetrics but others have had pediatrics and psych/mental health also) before the 3 year limit your application will be reconsidered without having to reapply.

It's a waste of time and money to apply to another state that you have no intention in working in.

If you don't have a valid US SSN many states either won't accept your application (CA, MD, VT, AZ, etc) or won't issue a license (HI, FL, TX, etc) This is per federal mandate that only those legally authorized to work in the USA (as evidenced by a valid SSN) shall be issued a professional license (not limited to nursing but all professions physician, accountant, PT and more). State boards of nursing are slowly implementing this mandate.

so do you suggest that if i still want to be a nurse that i must study all over again and disregard my philippine graduate diploma? if i aim to be in california with my fiance?

No. Apply to CABRN and see what they say. Be prepared with all the requirements (passport, RLE, school calendar, transcripts etc) and see what the assessor's determine. Maybe you won't need to repeat any coursework (unless you know that you don't meet the concurrency requirements such as maternity in the fall semesters and your delivery & cord care completed the following spring/summer semester ).

i see. i know i dont meet the requirement because ny school also did the same thing. the rule that to let the seniors batch completed their cases first so it took me the next year to complete my cases. :( thankyou for your advice. i think i have to study all over too
