Nurse on Survivor

Published

Any Survivor fans out there? I have to admit, Survivor is the one reality show I watch. It is a guilty pleasure.

There is a nurse on Survivor. These idiots hiked 11 miles in the Guatamalan jungle and got dehydrated and she was nursing them back to health. If she is smart, she will quietly keep nursing her team back to health and not make any waves. She is a shoe-in to make it to the merge that way. Would you vote a nurse off? She's one a smart team would want to keep. What are your thoughts?

I love Survivor as well although I did not care much for the last season. But I am psyched about this one. I think Margaret will make it to the merge. At that point I think that she will be singled out. But I am hoping that she will make it all the way! Oh, how many repeat survivors are on there?

Another nurse I remember on Survivor was John. Can't remember the Survivor he was on, but it was the one that Hunter was on... I was so ticked that he got voted off. I think that the Rob who got married to Amber had something to do with it... can't remember really but Hunter was HOT!! He was a former fighter pilot and a pilot for FedEx.

I'm getting WAY off track here...

Back to reality (TV). He was an ED RN from the east coast I believe. He was the one who was stung by the jellyfish and asked one of his teammates to come over and urinate on the wound.

Specializes in LTC, assisted living, med-surg, psych.

"Survivor" is one of my few guilty pleasures too. :) A co-worker got me hooked on it midway through the first season, and I've watched every single episode (had to have dh tape it for me back when I was working 3-11).

I'm glad to see a NP on the show, although I too wondered why she wasn't passing out the bananas when the guys kept collapsing from dehydration. I'd be so humiliated if I were one of them, being seen vomiting on national television has GOT to be embarrassing. Then again, your values do tend to change when you're throwing up: "I don't care about my shoes....." :barf01: :barf01:

I'm hoping to see another of my co-workers on an upcoming season.......she tried out for "Survivor 12" last spring, and if anyone has the mental toughness to get through it, she does. She's my age, but she's in terrific physical shape and tans well........she ought to be a shoe-in! :)

Specializes in Emergency Nursing.

I don't watch suvivor anymore, its old to me. But y'all do know that there was a nurse on there before right? It was a guy, he was a reg. RN I think. He got bit by some kinda poisonious fish or something and he had some lady pee on the bite (he appearently studied up before and said the urine would stop the poison from spreading or something). Anyone remember this?

I remember when that happened, but it was his own fault he got voted off. Four of them decided to form an alliance before they were the majority. Their other tribe members got wind of it and joined with the rival tribe members (this was after the merge, remember) and picked 'em off, one by one.

Specializes in OB, M/S, HH, Medical Imaging RN.

I've watched every season and love survivor. There are two things I would love to know. Does not one person who is on have any medical condition such as hypertension? I know they have to be very healthy but do you suppose any of them take any kind of medicine? They have medics there on location and all that so what if someone gets a migraine? Do they have to just tough it out? Secondly I know for sure the women must have periods? I heard this past Thursday for the first time one of the women said "I started my period". Surely they have some sort of privacy for that time of the month? I know they have to wash in the river, ocean, stream or whatever but come on you gotta have a tampon or something???

I think we're thinking two different people. I was upset when Hunter was voted off, this was early, early on. Maybe people don't remember him as much, but he did get his own show on the History Channel. Don't think it's on anymore.

Frankly, I wasn't a huge fan of John. It was his own fault he got kicked off and he had a lot of anger towards the wrong people when he was voted off. I was rooting for him until all the anger surfaced.

I did start to watch Survivor on Thursday, but was interrupted when my husband came home and we got to talking about something, and then walked the dog. :)

Yes, they do have a medic stationed nearby. I believe in Survivor Australia (remains one of my favorite seasons) Barbara (the blond prison guard (?)) wore a nicotine patch. She was definitely a heavy smoker. You could tell by her voice. I guess if they want a person badly enough that something like a nic patch isn't going to hold someone back. If they had medical problems that required daily meds, that would probably keep someone from being cast. The medics do have some stuff with them, pads and tampons, condoms, I'm not sure if they have OTC pain relievers with them. Maybe they do. The medics do have some stuff with them. When someone wants a tylenol, I don't think they're going to show them radioing base camp: Rudy wants a Tylenol! I know that there was one survivor who was hurt pretty badly, an ankle problem? And she was taken by helicopter for medical treatment, but they really never brought it up in the show.

When Michael got burned, they did have a chopper ready to evac him out pretty fast.

No, I don't think we're thinking of different people, BabyRN. Hunter is from San Diego and I remember that season. Remember John, Zoe, Tammy and one other person, can't think of who, formed an alliance right after the merge, and left Neleh and Pasqual out. Sean and Vecepia (who eventually won the season) were able to flip Neleh and Pasqual over to their side, even though there were only 3 from that tribe that made it to the merge. That gave them the advantage, and they proceeded to punish the alliance by voting them out, one by one.
