Nurse pay in Jacksonville?

U.S.A. Florida

Published

I was wondering what the average pay rate is in Jacksonville. I'm relocating in the next couple of months. I have 5 years experience. Thanks!

Shand's is only hiring new grads if they complete their new nurse fellowship, which they will not offer again until the end of the year. As previous poster stated, most ASN's are only getting hired if they worked for the hospital prior to graduation. Baptist does prefer BSN's over ASN's and are only hiring new grads that worked as techs. Mayo had over 200 applicants for their GN program and are only hiring 10 of those applicants ( I have a classmate waiting to find out if she got in). If you have experience, you shouldn't have a problem getting a job! HOwever, it's very difficult for those of us that don't. Good luck!!!

Just wanted to say that they have been sending out that "New Nurse Fellowship" e-mail for about two years now (the one that says they will offer it at the end of the year).

Specializes in Family Practice/IM/Pediatric.

Rumor has it, Baptist won't be hiring ASN nurses. HMMM well, we'll see. I have been with them for 10+ yrs as a CMA. I am now in nursing school. You think they'll hire me on????? Sure as heck hope so. LOL

My cousin just got on at baptist in south fl with an adn. I don't think that's true. None of the job postings say ban required.

Hi All,

I believe it is around $25 an hour. If someone has different info please let us know.

And what CNAs??? lol!

Florida hospital is going to "primary care" nursing. They are getting rid of all patient care techs-or have already done so on many floors. The nurse is responsible for everything. Yes, linen changes, baths, any time the patient hits the call light for water, toileting, whatever the nurse has to drop what she is doing and run and check. We also empty the trash in every room and hall the linen to the dirty linen room. It is very glamorous. ;)

thanks for the info, I cant believe you guys change linens all that extra.....whats the nurse to patient ratio......

Anyone in Jacksonville area have an update on the job outlook for new grads??

Baptist, St. Vincents, Memorial, and even Shands have job listings (Mostly Med-Surg) that dont require experience. Just wondering if they are actually offering new grads those positions.

Nurses in my grad class are being hired. One just started work at Baptist.

i am a new grad and just interviewed with shands jax, i would contact the recruitment office for information as they do take asn's. the starting pay is phenomenal and the recruitment office is very informative. there are opportunities at this hospital so i would not let the information found on this website be cause for looking elsewhere.

good luck!!

I interviewed yesterday too! I was soooo nervous but they were very nice. The recruiter told me it would take 2-3 weeks to find out if I got in....

:uhoh3:

Congrats on your interview guys! I have heard great things about Shands!

Q: How long was it between your application submission and the call for your interview?

and, did you guys go to school in the area? I'm coming from out of town so I'm just curious if that will effect my application..
