nurse immigration lawyer - $400/20 mins ??

Published

I will schedule an appointment with an immigration lawyer. The fee is $400 for 20 mins. :uhoh3: With the limited time and costly fee, I want to ask everybody here on what are the most important questions that you think I need to ask/clarify regarding nurse petitioning. What do I need to know in choosing an immigration lawyer/firm? I know that I should also ask for my other options with the current retrogression. :o I have to organize everything before I meet up with the lawyer..

Remember, 20 minutes only! :smackingf

By the way, if anyone here has a question specific to this topic, maybe I could ask him as long as I still have minutes left.. I hope one who's knowledgeable and doesn't just go blah-blah.

Specializes in Medical-Surgical.

Ask him first what are your chances with the retrogression coming this November. Although this a vague question because I don't know whether you are going through OAS or CP.

I agree your lawyer is expensive.

thats too much. i consulted one last year for $200 for one hour. write your questions down already and narrow it down to the most relevant.

why dont you try to get answers here first so you can narrow down your questions for the lawyer. suzanne seems to know a lot. pm her.

my advice, shop for another lawyer.

goodluck to your application :heartbeat

Suzanne can help you with alot of your questions, so try to P.M. her first, all the best.

I think you can find all the answers on this or some other sites. I would not spend a penny for a consultation. Immigration attorney will not say anything new about the retrogression. Everything is pretty clear.

Also you may find a paralegal that may charge you ten times less but give you the same information.

That is true and some lawyers give free consultations too.

Why an immigration lawyer? To consult for what at this point? And that charge is outrageous..............you are getting the royal screw.

If you are in the US on a tourist visa, and have been here for at least sixty days, then you can get your petition process started and get in before the cut-off. If you have not been here that amount of time and will not be in the next week or two, the immigration attorney consultation will be useless to you. Not one thing will be able to be done for you and you will need to return home, and wait for consular processing.

Do you actually have an employer willing to petition you right now?

If in case we would need Immigration Lawyer in the future, who we gonna call?

First you need to get an employer, many times they have an immigration attorney that they use.

That's $1200 an hour, nope, totally out of range for that type of service.

I would find another one.

I was told by a nursing skilled facility (with only 150 bed capacity) to hire my own lawyer before we start the processing of my H1B visa. I was in cali on a tourist visa at that time, took my nclex exam and passed it. I went back to pi because a lawyer advised me to do so since my visa is about to expire and i do not want to be caught overstaying there. I want to do everything legally. I've read a lot of threads here about working visas and how slim would be the chances for a newly BSN grad with no hospital experience to get one. Now my question is, should i still hire my own lawyer since i already have an employer in cali willing to do direct hire or are they also giving me a false hope since working visas are not for newly grad rn, even with a bsn degree, proof of passing the nclex, and an employer?
