Welcome to the Nurse Educator Forum. It is my desire that you find this a warm, inviting place and will come here often for friendly, collegial discussions.
Let me introduce myself: I have been an ADN nurse educator in a small community college in North Carolina for the past two years. My areas of specialty are medical-surgical, OBGYN and immediate newborn, and cardiac nursing. In addition to teaching, I conduct clinicals on general medical-surgical, PEDS, postpartum, and cardiac step-down units. Along with being a full time nursing instructor, I am working on my Masters in Nursing Education. I am enrolled in a fully online curricula and have been very satisfied with this so far.
I have learned much these past two years but, I have so much more to learn! I look forward to hearing from you.
hello all...i am a new to academia. i recently started teaching at a bsn program. i am currently taking classes to obtain by msn. at times my head just spins! i graduated in 1991 from a asn program and finally went back to school for my bsn and graduated with that in 2004! i have worked in med surg, ortho, critical care, icu, cardiac, and in a very busy trauma hospital. i discovered this site while reserching on the new cnl for a debate that i have to do in my classes. i look forward to meeting new people online! i have recently fallen in love with technology and live on the interent.
i see where one person here is a "certified nurse educator". i was not aware of this certification could someone fill in the new kid!
thanks ~

hello, road2pd,
yes, vickyrn is now cne!!! she is a moderator for this forum, too. and, a very astute educator i might add.
normally one can, while securing the msn, do the track for nurse educator and then sit for the certification exam.
hi all, i have recently enrolled at university in south africa, johannesburg. I would have great satisfaction in completing nurse educator course, diploma one year. My question is that I am currently trying to master the historical development in South Africa human resource management, I must discuss three phases not more than three that contributed to human resource management as practiced today. I choose basic skills in management and leadership, human and social development and work place performance do you in your honest opinion think that I have choosen wisely.
I have been a instructor for 4 years at a BSN level, this May 06 I will complete my Nurse Educator MSN program. I really enjoy teaching but I miss the pt care. not the hard work but the interaction with MDs and other disciplines. Teaching clinical, that offers me some of what I miss. :w00t:

Hello, everyone.
My name is Vickie and I am just beginning my career as a nursing instructor. I began in January with the new semester and am in an ADN program doing clinicals with last semester students. I started out with an ADN, and just completed my BSN in August. I am still waiting to see if I got into my Master's program to start in August of this year. I am enjoying this change, but am exhausted as this is a part time position of .66 with no benefits, so I am continueing to work at my hospital job at a .5. The stress has helped make me sick all winter.
I am starting with my second group of students (they do 2 days a week times 4 weeks of clinicals, then go on to preceptorships), and am feeling more confident. I did not really get much, if any, orientation, and not one instructor does the same thing, so I have been flying by the seat of my pants thus far. It has gotten better though, and now I am sure that a full-time position would be great.

Hi, Vicky, and everyone. I teach at a small community college in Iowa. We are a district with multiple campuses. I have about 20 students a year on my campus. I teach all the first year courses-and,occasionally, my first love, Mental Health. I work per diem on a Psych unit. I tell people I am the luckiest person, I have two jobs I absolutely love.
I graduated with my Masters about 16 years ago. Lots of work, but what a great time.
I am looking forward to discussing education issues with educators from all over the country/world.

Hello all,
My name is Lisa. I've been an RN since 1984. I am currently working on my BSN but plan to teach after receiving my Masters. I could use a little help with research and would appreciate any replies.
I need to learn more about the role I eventually plan to assume.
Thanks to you all in advance.
Lisa
