FNP and Acute care NP
My MSN is a Nurse Educator. I live in MN. a friend who is a FNP tells me , from a conference she attended, that there is a need for ACNPs. They can do hospital rounds but wondering the pros and cons of each. Before I take the plunge. I don't want to return for my doctorate. I still practice in the ER and want to stay in practice.

Creative skills lab ideas
How many are in your group? We have groups of 10 and I often will have them teach each other. I don't lecture. We expect them to come prepared. They purchase a study guide. They are expected to have the study guide completed and videos watched. I take the objective right out of the guide and have them get in groups of 2. I encourage drawing, I bring out markers and poster paper. I also will give the visual aids for show and tell. I am there to pose questions and answer ones they have. It goes well and often fun and creative. This year will be a challenge. All 46 students will be together for 50 min. harder to do this teaching strategy, but I am going to try.

Attention Nurse Educators!
I finished my Nurse Educator program last year. I thought about doing the FNP first but I love education. There is a need for educators and in some areas there is a saturation of NPs. Of course now I want to complete the NP part so I can practice. I currently work casual in a ED.

Anyone go to Normandale???
I went to Normandale back in 88 and I had 2 little kids. I think things went well. Nursing school is demanding no matter where you go it is nice to take Physio right after but you won't forget Anatomy. and Chem does help. I had to take both 1020 and 1050. I didn't have it in HS and I was returning after 7 years out.

Nurse Educators, Introduce Yourselves!
I have been a instructor for 4 years at a BSN level, this May 06 I will complete my Nurse Educator MSN program. I really enjoy teaching but I miss the pt care. not the hard work but the interaction with MDs and other disciplines. Teaching clinical, that offers me some of what I miss. :w00t:
