Nurse Corps Scholarship 2017-2018

Published

Hi everyone,

I am interested in applying to the nurse corps scholarship 2017 2018 in order to pay for my accelerated program of sixteen months. I have a bachelors in sociology. I have done quiet a few researches. The application cycle will be open this month but I don't know which exact date. I have read discussion threads of previous years and have found really helpful information. I want to create a platform where interested applicants can ask questions, share information, discuss and help each other.

Thanks

I'm fairly angry I did not receive a credit check. I have EFC 0, MSN- FNP/CNM program at the TOP program for family medicine, TONS of experience with working with medical under-served. I just don't understand.

@starbucksandpink, I think most of us have similar stats, but I understand your pain. I have a 0 EFC, I'm from a disadvantaged background, and I've been volunteering for years with refugees, victims of DV, and at a drug recovery center. I have a cumulative 3.8 and I was even SNA President. What gives?

I'm doing an NP program, but I heard that I may be penalized in the scoring because it's BSN-DNP? Who knows the logic. I wish I got a credit check, but I'm trying to trust the universe right now... *hugs to you and others who are disappointed* But it's not over 'til it's over. Let's try to trust that things will work out as they should. *sigh*

PS I thought your username was a BSG reference at first and I admit I'm disappointed that it probably isn't. :p

Wow..... I was just thinking the same thing. I thought for sure I would at least get a credit check.

DNP makes you 2nd tier. It's totally ridiculous, but it's the truth. My stats are similar to yours and last year I didn't get a credit check because I applied as a DNP. This year I applied for funding only for the master's portion of the DNP and I got a credit check with almost an identical application as last year. They don't make it clear at all because under first tier it says graduate FNP program, but what they mean is MASTER'S FNP program.

They should make it more clear and they should offer funding for the first part of the program for those of us pursuing BSN to DNP! It's silly to leave us out of the running for a paperwork issue. I'd be happy to take what I can get - I'm living on food stamps, for heaven's sakes!

*deep breaths*. I need some ice cream.

Is this the email we need to add to our contact list to make sure if we are lucky enough to get an offer we don't miss it?

Are you in a MSN FNP program or DNP FNP program? I am not sure you can get funding just for the MSN portion if you are in a BSN to DNP program because once you complete the program you were accepted/funded for you are required to begin your service commitment which is why they distinguish the difference between MSN FNP and DNP FNP.

I was accepted to a program where you can get a DNP in three years or you can stop after two years with a Master's if you want to (or need to because you have a service obligation to honor)

That is great. Hopefully there are no issues with certifying your status and signing the contract if you are to receive the award.

Me too! Are you going to Vandy?
