2019 Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program

Hi Everyone,

I didn't see a thread created for the 2019 Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program yet. This will be my 3rd year applying. I'm applying as a staff RN with a HPSA score of 17. Hopefully, they open the application cycle soon.

So they don’t like when loan are consolidated? Why? Nursing was my only degree.

The applications makes it sound like at least some types of consolidated loans are ok, I think when they are only related to the degree if I remember right. I also got my finalist email for the Nurse Corps LRP today, FNP at FQHC. I didn’t pay too much attention to previous years as I figured might take multiple years but does anyone know how long it typically takes for the counter signature if you are awarded?

Consolidated loans are only eligible if ALL debt was for nursing education. Any non-nursing debt bundled into it make all the consolidated debt ineligible for NCLRP, and I think the same is true for NHSC.

How long does it typically take from here?

Congrats to all who got emails today!!!! Still over here waiting... Thinking about changing jobs if I don't get awarded.

Kherdon - when did you get your finalist notification before the award notification today?

I had not heard anything until today. Only one credit check way back when and that was it

Or maybe it was just a finalist notification? I had to sign the contract and enter my bank account information

I looking for a second job. This doesn’t seem hopeful for me.

That’s why I was nervous/confused! I thought the same but I looked back on previous discussions and it’s not an award until we get another notification that it’s counter signed (so I guess I shouldn’t of jumped for joy yet). Back to our regularly scheduled program of waiting...

anyone know how often an award finalist DOES NOT get awarded?

On a side note, I was thinking I would be denied (again), so now I want to move to Dallas, TX. How easy/hard are these to transfer. The Dallas clinic score is 19 as well.

Have you been a finalist the past two years and not gotten it? Im curious as to how many finalist don’t actually get awarded? I just got a finalist email today and the wait is now killing me ?
