Hi all,
I've been reading up on the Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program and looks like in past years, threads have been started for the yearly application process. I'll be applying as a Staff RN (non-faculty) working at a DSH with an HPSA Score of 16. Not sure of my DTI percentage yet. Hoping to connect with others that will be applying to the program next month and we can all share our updates here. Best of luck to everyone!
When your DTI ratio is figured out, are sign-on bonuses included? For instance, I had a $10k sign on bonus, but I hope it's not necessarily included in my gross yearly salary.
This is my first time applying as an PMHNP, credit checked on Equifax on 04/20...can't remember what my facility's score was.
I also can't remember how much money is dispersed. Is the NHSC program the one where they give you 60% for a 2 year agreement, and then an additional 25% for another year? That seems too good to be true!
And is it correct that if you consolidate your nursing school loans with non-nursing loans, then it makes it all ineligible? Because that just seems silly and not difficult to work around, so I find it hard to believe.
I know someone who applied for the loan repayment, then consolidated the loans. She says her credit was checked, so I'm wondering if the consolidation was done after the application, if it would bear any difference in her outcome (but I told her that she may not have received the loan repayment anyways, so whatever!)
Hey guys! Just happened to see this. I was awarded last year. I'm faculty. My DTI ratio was ~140 or 150% (can't remember). The debt only includes student loans specific to your nursing degree. Other student loans are disqualified which can lower your ratio. It does not matter if the loans are private or federal. The income is solely your base income the employer reports. It doesn't include shift diffs, bonuses, etc. HRSA does not have a problem with consolidation as long as there is a method to differentiate other loans from your nursing loans.
Last year had a credit check in May, heard I was a finalist in late July, got a counter signature in mid to late August, and first deposit in September. Good luck everyone! This award has certainly been a blessing í ½í¸Š

this helps so much, i was starting to freak out about my consolidated loans! but since i pulled all my info over from the NSLDS website, hopefully it wont be hard for them to determine which loans were for my nursing degree. i did one year before going into nursing school so this is important since i will have some loans that aren't specific to nursing. i really pray and hope i get selected eek. i had my credit check back in April along with some others. nothing more yet, still under "Under Review".

Did everyone see the credit check on credit karma? I am not sure what I filled out incorrectly to not get a credit check, i had 2 last year when I applied and I don't have 1 yet for this year. D/I 180% HPSA 17, RN. Just says under review, I assume that is not good if I never got a credit check then I have no hope.
