Nurse Corps Loan Repayment 2016 Cycle

Published

Hello All,

I am applying for the nurse corps loan repayment program 2016 cycle, I just spoke to a representative who told me the application cycle opens up tomorrow. For those of you who have applied any tips advice etc.? I am very excited about this opportunity because I have an outrageous amount of loans.

under review stilll...i am guessing that means in a couple weeks 'denied'...

I just received the first acceptance email for NHSC~! I had given up all hope. Don't despair, they are still in decision making process!

Has anyone received a payment yet?

Not yet. Patiently waiting.

Update! I know nothing is final until the portal is changed and I receive my official email and welcome packet, but I was just countersigned today! I was notified on Sept. 1st of being a finalist, I signed the same day and just today got the countersign.

Same as KrodriRN. I received a finalist email on Sept 1st and was counter-signed today. No final email or status change in the portal yet, but getting more hopeful. Crossing my fingers for everyone else still waiting.

Do you mind sharing what your HPSA and D/I and if you are an RN. Just seeing where I am in the mix I don't stand a chance at this movement but i saw and RN with 165% get awarded, I am only at 140%.

I am a RN DTI 154% and site score of 17. Good luck, don't give up hope. This is my second time applying for a nurse corps program, initially I tried for the scholarship in school and didn't get it.

THANK YOU, I am happy for you all, and yes I will try again i need to go finish my Post MSN FNP Certificate so this will be the little push i need, just nervous bc I have been out of practice doing Utilization Review at the VA for a while now. Which pay is great hours are great but boring.

So I have been going nuts this past 9 months and want to share so that others have an idea how it works.

Applied in January for both Nurse Corp and SLRP.

Heard nothing at all until August 20th when I was notified I was a finalist and had to accept within a few days. I called and called and all it ever said was Under Final Review. They could not provide me with a drop of info!

I also applied for the nurse Corp and once I accepted SLRP it declined the Nurse Corp application although I did not even now if I was a finalist yet.

Notice my application was co-signed on September 20, 2016.

Received an award letter today 09/22/2016.

In my award letter it said that I will get the full amount in a lump sum which is different then what my peers inpatient stated. They stated that they got monthly payments after taxes were taken out. I will update you when I find out what my amount deposited is. some of my peers have been told they get the full thing in a lump and some have told me they got payments.

It states that it takes 90 days from the award date-which mines was the date it was co-signed.

Also right before my contract went into final review I noticed that my account changed and there was an option for participant but I couldn't log into that system until I got my welcome letter.

My facility score is 16 and I am either bottom of Tier 1 or top of Tier 2 based on my ratio with only loans and income.

Hope this helps someone with guidance and good luck. This is a blessing for anyone who gets it regardless of need, in some way we all need it and I wish you all the best of luck!!!

Really! That's awesome. What score for your facility and did you submit a disadvantageday background form?

Thank you
