Nurse Corps Loan Repayment 2016 Cycle

Published

Hello All,

I am applying for the nurse corps loan repayment program 2016 cycle, I just spoke to a representative who told me the application cycle opens up tomorrow. For those of you who have applied any tips advice etc.? I am very excited about this opportunity because I have an outrageous amount of loans.

I was thinking of applying next year and I wanted to verify from people in this thread that may know;

Can you use the money to pay off private loans by major banks? I figured as long as they were certified by the school and the bank was a recognized lender it would be a "qualifying loan" but the awkward wording of the application checklist lists "private loan from institution" are disqualified.

A private student loan will be considered a qualifying loan. A personal loan used for school is not considered a private student loan.

My private student loan is serviced by American Education Services, but is a National Collegiate Trust loan.....hope this helps.

Did anyone notice that the Nurse Corps Portal site is currently down for maintenance? Maybe they are getting ready to make some status changes? I am seriously getting way to into this. I check like 4 times per day because I don't want to miss any potential finalist emails. This is so stressful.

They do this all of the time. I don't think it has any bearing.

I didn't think so. Just wishful thinking.

Haven't heard anything back yet. I'm an NP with a score of 14 and DTI of >100%. Had a credit check on the 19th of April. No news yet......

I looked and I also had my credit checked 4/19. Praying it's good news! My student loan payment is more than my mortgage!!! I need this desperately!!!

Hello, I applied also, NP with a site 16, DTI 250. Had a credit check 4/19, but I'm concerned as being a single mom of 3 for most of my undergrad and grad school, some things went by the wayside financially. We'll see... Also, did anyone apply to any of the state Medicaid based loan repayment programs?

When you guys say your credit has been checked, who is the creditor that is checking it? I have one from April and one from May from Credco but haven't applied for anything else.

Where are you checking to know your credit is being checked? Do they list that they checked it on their site, or through a credit monitoring site.

I check on credit karma.
