Hello All,
I am applying for the nurse corps loan repayment program 2016 cycle, I just spoke to a representative who told me the application cycle opens up tomorrow. For those of you who have applied any tips advice etc.? I am very excited about this opportunity because I have an outrageous amount of loans.
Preference is strictly DTI and HPSA score.Faculty and Advance Practice Nurses should have for the most part a higher DTI for obvious reasons. That's why most awards are received by said groups.
For those RNs who went to an expensive 2 or 4 year college; you will probably beat out some faculty and/or NPs. The statistics clearly point to this.
Again DTI and HPSA is all that matters. I hope that clears up information for new folks and those providing wrong info.
I am sorry that you are also misinformed. Also, it's not necessary to badger or be passive aggressive.
The truth is there are no published literature that specificy exactly how initial awards are made.
However the categories, or "said groups" as you call it, are Nurse Faculty, Nurse Practitioners, and then finally the nurse.
Nurse Faculty Determinations as below, followed by Nurse Practitioners starting at the highest DTI, and then if any monies available it will trickle down to the nurse.
Thought I would clear that up for everyone.

Calling it how I see it. You've been giving people the wrong information from the get go. I wont get involved in your mental gymnastics.
Hey don't take that person serious. He accuses people of being passive aggressive but on page 9 he clearly attacks a CRNA. He/she has a different agenda.Anyways, what's your score and DTI? If you don't mind.
Lol I don't take a zero to the left serious. I just get annoyed when the blind try to lead the sheep... Changing the subject, my HPSA is 14, DTI is 203, and I'm an RN. What about you?
At this point, it doesn't matter how the funding is distributed. We have all applied, we are all deserving, and we all have to play this waiting game to find out if we are lucky enough to receive this great opportunity. Good luck to everyone. I will be here for support when anyone needs it, and I will be there with a big congratulations to anyone that receives this award.
Jose, if you want to berate people on the internet and accuse them of spreading "wrong information from the get go" you might want to make sure that you're truly correct and not setting yourself up to look like a total ****.
From the HRSA website:
Up to fifty percent of NURSE Corps LRP funds will be made available for nurse practitioners (NPs),and up to twenty percent will be made available for NF. The purpose of these allotments is to address the key issues identified above, pertaining to the expanding need for health care and the nursing pipeline. Individuals who are uncertain that they will be able to fulfill a two-year service commitment under the NURSE Corps LRP are advised not to apply.
See this link, page #3: http://www.hrsa.gov/loanscholarships/repayment/nursing/guidance.pdf
P.S. this link takes you to the official program application and guidance document on the HRSA website. I.e. information that cannot be disputed, no matter how hard you try.

Hi Ellabella, thanks for chiming in. Perfect example of coming into the conversation at the wrong time. You see if you actually follow this thread you will see who really is berating other nurses. But, good luck to you. Have a nice day.
