Hey I was wondering who has applied to the Nursing Program @ Nova starting fall 2010?
I would like to know of any updates any one has heard on the process, interviews, etc.
thanks!! best of luck!!
Hey everyone...... wow MVAZ that is so crazy what just happened to you! I cant believe that, how discouraging that must be... thats exactly how i felt yesterday when i called... they also had me mixed up.... i hope that everything works out for you.... I am being reviewed late as well.. Applied in Jan and now is when they are taking a look... so my chances have dramatically decreased so i know the feeling.. and it wasnt even our fault. We just have to hang in there... I spoke to them yesterday and they said that they are wrapping things up by next week for those who applied in Feb and beginning of March... so i dunno what to think anymore. How are they going to look at things now since its late u know.... i applied earlier to avoid all of this and look.. they are completely disorganized they are very behind.... i thought they wouldnt be either but look.. and who knows how many others are falling into this. My friend received a Webstar this morning but she was denied like 2 weeks ago and it also said financial aid because i think that the system is automatic when it comes to info but like Mari's it was like a student portal...This goes to show that we need to be on top of things... thank god i have a backup..because relying on this now the way it is i cant believe it.. But you know what you never know.. spots are still open... and things are still being reviewed so stay positive ok!!!! Or look at other options whatever the case may be you will be ok... HANG IN THERE! :redbeathe:up:
Its me again.. i was checking my emails just now and NSU sent me an email regarding my mix up from yesterday, they apologized and advised me that everything has been taken care of and that I could check my NSU VIP page and it should reflect the changes. So i checked it and made sure and now everything looks fine, the email also stated that i should receive a decision by next week, but im still missing a class so i dunno if its them saying that or like i said earlier one class doesnt really matter since it wont make or break me. But just an update that they did fix it and now lets see what happens... hopefully all goes well. If not hey Plan B but atleast they took action.... hopefully MVAZ this give you some comfort... but hey whatever happens, happens for a reason. As cliche as it sounds we have to think that way sometimes..
That's good news friend - at least they're taking a step in the right direction!! Hopefully they do the same for MVaz because like you said it can definitely diminish your chances & that's really unfair.
I'm happy to report that I received my acceptance packet yesterday :) A few things to think about: a $500 pymt. is due within 14 days of receiving your letter to hold your spot. Another $250 is also due on July 15 (my bday) and on registration day for a total of $1000. Also, the deadline for the Baptist Scholarship is May 1st so hopefully you all get your decisions before then.
Good luck to everyone!! Keep posting your updates!!
Hey everyone just got a little more info. from Nova. I finally got to speak with my advisor and he told me that they are still working on people who submitted their applications in the middle of February. I actually submitted mine in Feb. , but he explained to me that it goes from the date that they send it over to get reviewed. So mine didn't get submitted for review until mid March!!! Even though I submitted everything a month earlier. Also He informed me that they have filled about 30 seats already! There are still 70 available so I guess that's good news.. Try staying positive...I sure am trying..I am going to take the HESI next week Tuesday to just have a back up. I am going to apply to BC just in case.
Ok. application submitted! really excited to have finally completed this final step. Everyone needs to stay positive and have patience- I know I sound crazy saying this but its true. I know this has been a long process for most of us but we have to continue waiting for our letters in the meantime. Overall, I'm very happy with my adviser he has been incredibly helpful and supportive. For the first time it feels as if I have someone on my side (fighting on my team) within the university. Unfortunately, there has been a lot of changes with the new nursing department/committee- its no ones fault. We just have to deal....
As soon as I hear anything I will let everyone know. :)
Remember, good things come to those who wait. Patience is a virtue.
Mari- thanks for the info regarding the scholars application.

Hey Ralphigesbabe,
Thanks for the info-
Sounds good that there are still spots left. Something for everyone to look forward too. Good luck on your HESI!!:) let me know how you do. I'm considering taking the HESI as well.

I just realized that it sucks that the baptist scholars is due by May 1st since the deadline for Nova officially ends on May 1. Therefore, some students may still apply to the nursing program on May 1 and may not be able to apply to the baptist scholars since they wouldn't have gotten their letter on time... that's odd. I wonder if that would change?
Hey guys I forgot to mention that when I spoke to the advisor by the way he told me he is the ONLY advisor for entry level nursing, he explained that it might be 3 weeks before they start reviewing the ones from mid March...so it might be well after the deadline for the Baptist program before we get any answers.
My friend just spoke to an advisor and he told her that the 30/70 numbers were incorrect ?? I'm not sure what to think because it seems everytime someone calls they get different information Hopefully its true and there are more seats available!! He told her they are trying hard to get all decisions out by the end of May. She applied in January, but they lost her payment. Consequently, her application was submitted this week and now she has to wait another 4 weeks to hear back from them - so much for applying early!! He also mentioned that last minute applications still have chances to get a seat so who knows. Keep in mind there's a possibility that some students will not pay their acceptance fees on time so that will free up some seats.
Now I don't know what to believe...because yesterday he told me that they had accepted 30 people already. I don't know why he would lie about that but I really do hope that there are more seats. I applied in February and he told me another 3 weeks before I heard anything, and he also told me that like 2 weeks ago that I would he something by the 15th and of course I didn't. So I am starting to think that not even he knows what's going on. I actually got a call from the nursing committee yesterday at 8 pm..They are working very late to get all the applications reviewed.

It is really upsetting that they are so unorganized. You would think as a private university that make sooo much money they would have enough staff to get things done. But as far as for me I called and everything was in!
