November 2010 Air Force Board Selections

Published

I just heard from my recruiter today that the board had made their selections! He told me they were now confirming COT dates, matching up selects with assignments, and verifying credentials, etc. He told me they had not released the list as of yet but he expected to know in the next two weeks. He told me the best case scenario would be that I was fully selected and given an assignment and COT date, the next best scenario would be being selected as an alternate and getting a slot for 2012, and the worst scenario would be being a "non-select" and not being allowed to resubmit an application to the AF:(. I hope we all hear good news in the next two weeks. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

there are rumors flying around keesler about the hospital downgrading to a community hospital and taking in non-military patients. Again, just a rumor. There is a new tower underconstruction that is projected to finish around October, but no for expansion so much.

So, talked to my recruiter today. Most of those that were/are alternates are being called to see if they are still interested and if they would accept certain COT dates. Recruiters were also sent a list of specific "non-select" names that the recruiters are calling to see if they are still interested in the particular positions they applied for and their packets are being resubmitted. I was a "non-select" whose name was on the list for resubmission. Sooooo, my packet was resubmitted a few weeks ago and my recruiter is waiting to hear if they will accept me. He said that all of this is going through his boss and passed down to him. If not accepted/selected again this time around, I can re-apply/submit for the July boards, but would have to apply/submit to a different job/area. Crossing my fingers for selection and August COT!!!! :)

rnpic, we're in the same boat again! I believe we've talked before :coollook: I was a non-select last fall, too. I got a call mid April from my recruiter and she told me they wanted to know if anything had changed? If I was still working in ICU and such? I said there were no changes and she asked for a confirmation email stating such from me. I sent it and that's the last I have heard so far :uhoh3:. Does anyone think I should call and bug her? I got bad vibes last fall after not making the first selection because she said she had never had someone get picked the second time around :crying2:. I'm still hopeful! Recruiters don't know what the board is always looking for, right? I, also, have my aplication in for reserves...so am hopeful one of these two will work out...it's soosoooo frustrating as you all know by now who are waiting. I am going to remain hopeful and if the alternates are getting dates this is good as they may need us non-selects after all! :yeah: Hang in there ya'all!

One other thing...I never did hear how many MICU nurses they picked last fall. I heard they only picked like one ER nurse...so pretty unclear there. Did anyone ever hear better numbers and wonder what the chances are this time as I was a non-select last fall?

Hey everyone,

I too was a Nov alternate that finally got a COT date a couple weeks ago..I took a day to decide if I wanted May or August and when I called my recruiter the next day all the May slots were full. Still totally stoked about August and got Travis AFB. It was my 2nd choice! All the paper work is done (bonus, signatures, finger prints) and I'm just waiting for the FBI to do the final check over. My recruiter said this last step is about 2 weeks then I can commission. Very excited for us all and I'll be working on my push-ups and running till COT. Anyone going to May or August commission yet?

Great news Christi! What department will you be working at Travis? We'll see you at august COT date! can't wait for PT during August in Alabama-HOT-HOT-Hot! I'm curious what your recruiter told you about the bonus. Mine said the bonus isn't for sure. all i can do is apply for it and see if there's still $. I heard the wait for on base housing is long at Travis, and it's mostly reserved for enlistees and high ranking officers. Us newbies get to go find something off base....unless you know something more

Hey babieblue2,

I'll be in the ICU at Travis. PT in Alabama in August...can't wait to sweat my butt off and more!! The only thing my recruiter said about the bonus is that it is a one lump sum (- taxes) a couple months after I arrive at my first duty station...at least i'm hoping :) I'm defiently looking for some people to share off base housing...since I won't know anyone in CA and sharing rent will mean more money in my pocket :) Some info on me: I'm 26 single female with an adorable yellow lab...his name is Otis....i couldn't figure out how to do a profile on here. I've been an ICU nurse for 3 years in a Medical ICU. What department are you gonna be at at Travis?

Hi Capt!

Sharky

I got med/surg christi. where are you from? I have a bigger dog too. I'm worried about finding a place that will take him and still have a nice yard to be outside. Apartment complexes are pretty much out of the picture i think. All's I know is I could never give him up!

Thats awesome Tee_byrd!!! I guess we will all be sweating our butts off together :)

Babieblue: I'm from Virginia...I was a navy brat but thankfully only moved twice, South carolina and then Virginia when I was 7. I feel the same way!! My pup is my buddy and I can't live without him. I'll def be looking for a place with a yard. My dad is watching him while I'm at COT and while I find a place in CA...hopefully that won't take too long! So what part of S. Carolina are you from? we were stationed in Charelston...until the navy base closed. I'm thinking Cali will be nice tho...I wanna take up surfing!
