I just heard from my recruiter today that the board had made their selections! He told me they were now confirming COT dates, matching up selects with assignments, and verifying credentials, etc. He told me they had not released the list as of yet but he expected to know in the next two weeks. He told me the best case scenario would be that I was fully selected and given an assignment and COT date, the next best scenario would be being selected as an alternate and getting a slot for 2012, and the worst scenario would be being a "non-select" and not being allowed to resubmit an application to the AF:(. I hope we all hear good news in the next two weeks. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
Off to COT in five days! I have uniforms, supplies, orders and travel arrangements. My orders say I'm assigned to the 60th Medical Operations Squadron, which covers outpatient and ER. I don't know which I'll be doing, but either would be fine... I've never worked in a clinic before so that would be a new experience for me.
If anyone's curious, I uploaded a PDF of the OTS/COT manual from last October that I came across, you can download it here: http://www.mediafire.com/?e7hfut34o7n74yw. It's some pretty dry reading but gives you an idea of what to expect.
Hang in there, and congratulations to all who have commissioned or will be soon!
The COT website has some good info as well and links to the uniform & PT standards: http://www.au.af.mil/au/holmcenter/OTS/COT-RCOT/InboundCOTTrainees.asp
I also found a book on the Kindle store called "The Air Force Officers' Handbook" which had some good history and general information.
Then there's "The Tongue and Quill" which you should be able to find a free PDF by googling, it's the communications handbook - how to write briefings and memos adhering to AF standards. Both of those books aren't necessarily COT specific, but still have some good information if you have some time on your hands.
Other trainees are a great resource as well. If you're on Facebook you could join or create a group for people in your COT class to share info prior to arriving.
Good luck and congratulations!

I commissioned May 23rd and I have yet to recieve official orders..my recruiter said it could be up to a couple months and if a couple weeks before I'm suposed to leave I haven't recieved orders for COT they will call up to processing and put a rush on it. Silly me I thought it was official when I swore in and signed the other 100 pages of stuff! Not being negative... just excited to get my ID card, uniforms and well the official official guarantee i'm going.
thanks for the info and congrats for commissioning! I will hopefully commission this week or next. waiting for the official date. I just received some great news, my house is under contract! that was my biggest concern with the whole process. Is everyone ready to go? looking forward to meeting everyone!
where are you going to be stationed? I'm going to Keesler.
Hubrn and w2cross2blue, I just got selected this Novemeber 2011 boards and going to Keeslar. Wondering how you like the base so far, Im going in as critical care with Cot date for Feb. Curious about how soon after commissioning can you get your ID card and how long before COT did you get your orders, I have family coming with me so I am worried about when insurance kicks in and how base housing is at Keeslar
