  1. I flew to cot and then to Cincinnati for NTP. You will be fine without a car, since you will be staying at a four-star hotel (Marriott) which is within walking g distance to UC Health. They also have a complimentary shuttle that drives a good radius if you need to get anything. There will be others who have their car there. If you plan to bring your own car, you will be given a parking pass where you can park in a secured garage at the hotel. Cincinnati NTP was awesome! I was there from Nov. - Feb.
  2. Thank you! I am at SAMMC, since Feb. and hope to do the fellowship here as the next step. I know you have to state in writing that you will be pcs'ed but I wouldn't mind staying. Do you know if staying here is an option? I like it here. What do you recommend from your experience?
  3. I have been contemplating what to do...I will be changing afsc to 46N3 soon and am currently in med./surg. And have been asked what I want to do after. I want to ultimately become a crna, but want to do the ICU fellowship before. I have had many people say not to do it because I will have to commit 6-8 yrs. I don't mind spending time in ICU before crna, but I do realize there is a time frame in regards to rank and progression . I have a 3.6 GPA, and am starting to study for GRE and also get my med. Surg. Certification. What do you all suggest?
  4. I am stationed at Lackland and working in SAMMC. We are living in Cibolo. We have a kindergarten and 2nd grader going to Randolph elem. It takes me about 15-20 min. To drive to SAMMC. This is a very nice place for kids.
  5. Thank you guys so much! I really don't feel like they should be looking at my weight if I can pass my pt test in the excellent category. I can see if I really fail it and it is in relation to my weight. It is such a relief to hear this, and it does make sense. Thank you very much musings and yammar!
  6. Thanks for the reply. I am actually leaving for COT in less than a month. I passed my meps by weight but have been lifting weights since, and gained weight. I read that the air force measurement needs to be less than 20. I can't find any official document though. I was wondering what happens when I get to COT and I am a few pounds over and don't make tape for some reason. Will I get sent back home? I have been working out almost everyday. I run my 1.5 mile in 10:30, 70 pushups in minute, 60 situps/min., and abd. measures 35 in. I am trying to get my waist down in case I get taped. Just worried that I might be over.
  7. Hello! Just wondering if anyone knows anything about weight requirements when you get to COT. For some reason I am stressing about possibly not making the weight/height ratio. I was never at my height/weight ratio, even when I played sports and did powerlifting. Of course that was in high school. I am currently scoring in the 90s for the PT. But I am concerned with the weight requirement. I have read online that they would measure the waist and neck and subtract. does anyone know details concerning the weight and what happens if you don't make weight when you get to cot? Thanks a lot!
  8. Ok. Just message me your fb name and I can look you up and add you on. We are trying to get everyone in our COT class together.
  9. this is how I feel. I submitted my fed. background check aftergetting accepted in April and signed everything I needed to. I havebeen waiting ever since then. I spoke to my recruiter last week and he said that a bunch of us had our names mixed up along the way to congress for approval and to be placed on the scrolls. My recruiter said that they are aware of my situation and are supposedly taking care of it. I cannot move on until I get commissioned. This is not making things easy. I also want to get my uniforms and take care of everything I need to do before I leave. I don't want to leave my wife to have to stress out about everything while moving with our kids. Lunah is right about hurry up and wait. I have really tried everything I could do to be prepared, but I guess this is the lifestyle we will be facing in the air force. Are you on facebook? We have a page titled "USAF COT 12-01". I can add you on if you message me your Facebook name.
  10. Thank you! This is awesome. Any more?
  11. No, its not the same. This is just to let them know you want the offer. If not, then they will give it to the next person in line. You will still need to fill out the big fbi clearance packet. You will also do a digital signature in on the computer which is the actual contract with the fine print. Them you need to wait to get on the government scrolls so that you can get commisioned.
  12. When, I applied for the job, they were aware of my plans and when I will be leaving. But I would ask your recruiter and see what he or she says about it. due to military orders I hear it is better to not resign, because it allows you to get your job back if you decided to come back after military.
  13. Awesome news everyone! Congrats to all who just found out. I have been wondering since the april board, who else was going to oct. 17 cot with me. I think I know who this asian dude from hawaii is. Hahaha...you guys should check out the thread I starte d for those going to oct. 17 cot. We need to get everyone together there.
  14. Thanks, I emailed my recruiter to see if I could commission now. I hope I am able to. Did you get your military ID yet? I heard that some people were able to get that before leaving for COT.
  15. I see, that makes sense.
