November 2010 Air Force Board Selections

I just heard from my recruiter today that the board had made their selections! He told me they were now confirming COT dates, matching up selects with assignments, and verifying credentials, etc. He told me they had not released the list as of yet but he expected to know in the next two weeks. He told me the best case scenario would be that I was fully selected and given an assignment and COT date, the next best scenario would be being selected as an alternate and getting a slot for 2012, and the worst scenario would be being a "non-select" and not being allowed to resubmit an application to the AF:(. I hope we all hear good news in the next two weeks. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

I can't leave until July due to my current job but it would be wonderful to have a COT date and know where my family and I will be heading!

Oh.. OK.. What did you put on your dream sheet for locations? I know ICU had limited places to go..

My specialty is emergency department. I am dreaming (dream sheeting) of #1 Travis-California, #2 Eglin-Florida, #3 Langley-Virginia, #4 Andrews-Maryland.

congrats w2cross2blue! i'm sure you'll get bumped up soon. my first degree was officially football and unofficially psychology. according to the list my recruiter gave me, colorado springs has an ICU but when I tried looking it up online I couldn't really find it (ft. carson has one but I don't know if ft. peterson still does). In my interview, we talked a lot about my master's (applying for crna) and things like that, which I think helped a lot and the interview overall went really well I felt like.

I want to change my dreamsheet. Do you think i can still do so since I'm an alternate and probably won't get selected until next yr October?

You can always ask, the worst thing they'll say is no it's too late. If you're on the waiting list and you are allowed to change your dream sheet it might get you bumped up, but don't quote me on that b/c it's completely speculation. Good Luck!

Here is the link and article about more funding and extension to Tricare. My recruitor told me in Nov that if more funding came through they would maybe create more nursing jobs, then start selecting from the alternate list. Hope this is the funding he was talking about!

TheNational Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2011 was passed by Congress and has been sent to the President for signature. Touted as the largest Defense budget since WWII, the bill authorizes $725 billion for fiscal year 2011. The bill covers virtually every aspect of military spending including authorization for expanding TRICARE coverage to include dependents up to age 26, TRICARE fee protection, family support and care giver programs and a 1.4 percent increase in military pay.

I'm in the same position as you (alternate for ER #2). I've been told that I should hear something by the end of this month. Have you heard anything different or new updates?

I'm in the same boat as everyone else. I'm on the alternate list for the AF. I have not heard anything from my recruiter. In actually losing my hopes of joining cause i haven't heard anything positive since november boards. It will be good if they come up with a budget for 2012 and let me know if i'm in or not. My friend got tired of waiting for the af and now she's leaving for the navy in june. The crazy thing is we both went to november boards n she started her paperwork for both branches around the same time.

Unfortunately no.. My recruiter is out for the next two weeks as well, so I am sure I will here nothing. It has been difficult to wait. After the November selection board, my recruiter thought he would have new information for me in March, then the budget issues happened and he told me maybe after the 2011 budget was signed. Now that has happened and still no new information. Quite frustrating! I have heard from the grapevine that the COT classes for the summer are full and the next available class is August. My recruiter did not confirm this however. I will keep you posted if I hear anything new.

W2cross2blue: thanks for the update. The last time I spoke with my recruiter (2 months ago), I was informed that October will have slot avalable cause everything is filled up until. New fiscal yr... Which is in October!

Thanks tee byrd! I would like to make some summer plans but it is so hard with all the "what ifs"! I just keep working on my push ups and run times. I love the "100 pushups" program and put the app on my iphone. It is awesome! It tracks your progress, times your sets, and reminds you with a text on your work out days.
