Hi everyone!
I haven't seen a post about NSU's Entry-level BSN program for Fall 2015 so I decided to start one. If there is another thread that everyone else is on, please let me know! I double-checked to make sure there weren't any posts hiding but I could be wrong.
Anyway, I am waiting for my final transcripts to be sent to Nova. Other than that, now it's just the waiting game and I'm super anxious. They wont be calling people until Feb or March probably. I finished my AA with Broward College this December. I underestimated application deadlines and the application process to get everything together so unfortunately I will have a semester off from school.
I also applied to FAU's Traditional BSN program. I have a thread about that as well if you also applied to that school. You can jump over to that thread by clicking here
If all else fails I was thinking of just going back to Broward College, possibly their North campus.
If anyone has any stories or advice/knowledge about any of these programs, please share! If you're an applicant to NSU as well, good luck! Hope we get the responses that we want.
Hey Lillian! I did a mixture of things to prepare for the exam. I only used the NLN PAX RN study guide for math. Someone told me that the math was identical, and it was. The math on this test is very easy, even if math isn't your strong point. As for the reading section, I used the NLN, Kaplan, and the McGraw Hill book. The reading section was frustrating for me because it was the first section I took and I was so nervous. Because of this, I was unable to comprehend what I was reading and had to re-read my passages over and over. For writing I used online grammar tests and found them through google. For A&P, I studied from online youtube videos because I did not have enough time to re-read my A&P book. I took notes while watching the videos (khanacademy was the best!) and then typed them to reinforce the info. A&P was a little tricky on the exam. There were some questions that were very detailed. I had great professors at MDC for A&P, but as you know, this is a subject that is very complex.
As for the time, I had enough time in all sections to go back and check my answers. Ask for a piece of scratch paper and be sure to bring multiple pencils so you can switch when one starts to become dull.
Let me know if you have any other questions. I am here to help!
Lillian, yes ONLY physiology. They ask about functions and there are no diagrams like there would be for actual anatomy. I studied everything the Kaplan book suggested (didn't study from the actual Kaplan book) by watching videos. I bought an A&P cliffnotes book, but it was going to take too long to read, so I skipped it. Basically, know enough about the systems it suggests so that you are able to weed out the answers you know don't make sense. For some questions, I was stuck between two different answers that I thought were correct. It is absolutely the most difficult of the four sections. To be totally honest, I saved this part for last as far as studying because I had heard back from many people, who I know are top notch in physiology, that it was even difficult for them. So I didn't want to focus so much on that and hurt my score in other areas.
I hope I helped :) Don't hesitate to ask me more questions. This is important for all of us!!!
I would like to know how helpful the faculty is with helping new applicants in applying to any of the nursing programs. I recently spoke to a few faculty members and basically was told all about what I couldn't do instead of providing me guidance in what I could do. I was totally not impressed with their professionalism. Obviously credentials after your name can't bring you class.
Daniel and Jacklyn, I haven't heard anything yet. I'm also waiting till next week. I keep telling myself it's only been a week, so we are still good. Daniel please keep us informed when you call, if anything I will also be calling on Monday !
How long did they tell you all to wait? We were told to wait two weeks.
