Hi all! It may be quite early for a Fall 2019 forum, but it's better to be prepared. I'm in the process of completing my pre-reqs at MDC and am projected to finish Spring 2019. So with that being said, my plan is to apply to NSU for the Fall 2019 nursing program. Anyone out there beginning their journey with admissions, etc. ?

Also review your physiology!!! Focus on the major systems like cardio, resp, renal, digestive. Make connections in your studying and watch ALOT of you tube videos on Kaplan tips! I had a few questions that I also saw on the DAT when I was thinking of applying to dental school on cardiology and respiratory, homeostasis, sympathetic and parasympathetic systems. Hope that helps!!
Ah! Okay, okay! I have been studying a lot of the math, but I heard you get a calculator - so I'm hoping its not as bad as I'm assuming. I am just scared for the writing, I have the book and its so hard! lol

The calculator is on your screen. You don’t “get” one, but the keyboard has a number pad so that’s how I went faster in my calculations. Just practice writing an essay for 30 minutes and then read it back to yourself to see if it makes sense and flows well. That’s the only way to practice!

Yeah, thats what I meant. Its just a basic on screen calculator but it can do everything you need it to! Thank you for your reply. May I ask how you ended up doing on the Kaplan and did you get in?

Yes I got notified that I was accepted within 5 days from interview day and did very well on Kaplan. You will too! Focus on your physio, writing and practice talking in front of a mirror. Speak slowly, and make eye contact. Get your point across without going off on tangents and you will have success!

Oh! And most importantly: Dress to impress! Professional attire is important!!! I went in a black suit, jacket and dress pants with a silk blouse, simple jewelry, closed toe heel pumps. I looked just like the interviewer who was the director of the program. We literally had the same suit except in different colors. That’s always a great sign! When you dress WELL, the interviewer will know you are serious and respectful towards the opportunity. There were so many girls there with innapropriate attire, open toe shoes, purple nail polish, black jeans.. that is a no no for something as serious as a nursing/medical school acceptance interview! Good luck! Best!!

I don’t think I used the calculator for adding and sub neg#... I just did that manually. It was pretty much the same! I got my suit & blouse at Ann Taylor, got it tailored for a perfect fit at the amazing seamstress at Crest Quality Cleaner bird road, shoes from Aquatalia Nordstrom which were SUPER comfortable, and my satchell with my folio and my Letters Of Rec.. (which were not required but I brought two anyway). I had breakfast that morning and got to the parking lot 30 mins early. That felt great! I also didn’t leave for lunch. I packed a cooler in my trunk with ice and camped in my car for lunch! Lol knowing me something was going to go wrong if I “left” for lunch! lol! Hope my suggestions and experiences help streamline your plan!!! ??
Hi I just applied to Nova and they’ve revived my time trancripts so i’m excited waiting on an email for the interview. I feel like with practice I can ace it but im ambivalent about the Kaplan test. i’ve been studying the book but i’m so nervous. If I have a 3.81 GPA and have A’s in almost nursing prerequisites. So if i completely bomb the exam what would be my chances of acceptance? I’m talking 30-50 score rate.
Also what is the essay like/topic?

I just interviewed today and they told some people in my group by Monday and then they told others 2 weeks and you don’t hear back in 3 weeks to give them a call! So I’m sure you will hear back soon.

Don’t worry about the Kaplan! It’s not that bad as it seems.
