Nova Southeastern

Published

Today I am sending my application to Nova Southeastern for the Fall 2009. Excited and hopeful. Give me a shout out if you are sending your application as well.:yeah:

I called and confirmed w/ Baptist, the decisions will take a little longer about 2-3 extra weeks ...I'm just so tired of waiting. I'm going to my doctor tomorrow for the physical and vaccines, YES you do need the forms for the Doctor to sing and stamp. See the link below (right hand side, under Orientation Forms).

Specializes in I'd like to go into oncology....

I uploaded all my papers last week and I'm still "pending approval" from the Magnus Portal. I tried to find out from Nova how long it would take to approve but I wasn't able to get a response. Anyone upload their stuff and had it approved yet?

Thanks... I miss the most obvious stuff

WOW...all these preparations are overwhelming, especially for all of us that work! I have to go back and forth to the Doctor next week for all of the TB exams, lab results for titers, and possible vaccines.

Does anyone know what the school's insurance covers? I have insurance through my job, but when I leave I'm going to loose it and I'm planning on getting the school's, but I want to make sure it can cover emergencies / hospital / doctor visits...(???)

WOW! I just finished reading through all of these crazy blogs!

Im a student at the Ft. Myers campus and after reading through all of these blogs, I will tell you Im in the same boat as all of you! I went to my interview back in March/April and they told my I was accepted before I even walked out of the room, but I was left waiting until the end of April to recieve my actual letter (which by the way, I almost had framed :) ) I had sent in all my information, bought transcripts 3 times and still am waiting for everything to go through.

One good thing I think you guys in the Davie area have is actual people to talk to! I would have to drive almost 3 hours in order to see someone face to face over there. Yes, Michele (the secretary) over here is fantastic but, everything has to go through the Davie campus before they know. We don't have anyone for financial aid over here and everytime you call either you don't have anyone to talk to or you talk to 3 different people each time!

I'm broke and am waiting for my financial aid to go through. I am not eligible for private student loans and still don't have an answer about whether my federal aid will cover -I almost turned down my acceptance because of the cost.

LOW and BEHOLD! You have to read the small print -the amount of tution due in September is only $6,295 (1/3 of the whole year), which yes, is what I paid for the whole year at FGCU but, it makes it a lot easier on the checking account!

Even though it still doesn't include books and the uniform.

I sent in all my immunizations to that Mangus Portal months ago and it still hasn't updated them!

And another thing, does anyone know if the date for orientation is for the Ft.Myers campus as well as the Davie? The other message board Im on that has mostly Ft.Myers students have been hearing other days.

Whoever posted about the correct uniforms, thank you bunches!

Any and all information would be greatly apprecitated! Im soo excited to start Nursing school and can't wait to become a part of the NSU sharks!~

To all: I submitted my application for Winter 2010 - What kind of questions do they ask in the oral interview? How long is it and how many male students are in the program?

Specializes in I'd like to go into oncology....

I thought the interview at Nova was pretty general. They'll ask you questions like why do you want to be a nurse, why do you want to go to Nova, your strengths and weaknesses and then they'll ask you a few scenarios and they'll want you to tell them how you would address it. As for me, I felt that they made you feel very comfortable and they were very easy going. Regarding how many male students, I really have no idea how many male students we have in the program. But working in a hospital, I've noticed that all the groups doing clinicals, regardless of the school they are attending, have a ratio of about roughly 7:1 (more or less). So there aren't many guys in the program - I consistently see that. But good luck to you with your interview. I'm sure you'll do well...

Thanks for your answer.... I am one of the few - a male nurse student, my kids are excited that I am going back to school for nursing at Nova.

I didn't get into Baptist. I thought I did pretty good in the interview but oh well. I'm just very exited to start, it doesn't matter if in Baptist or Nova...after all, things happen for a reason. Has anyone received their acceptance or rejection letters yet?

MIABSN: so sorry to hear that! it's true everything does happen for a reason!

i have a question if you dont mind me asking.... did your letter for baptist come in certified mail like the Nova acceptance package or just regular mail? and did you receive it just today? my mail usually comes in later in the afternoon :uhoh3: havnt gotten anything yet!

My letter came in regular mail, it was a Baptist envelope.

Good luck to you!
