  1. Hi there. The information for the Baptist Scholars is supposed to be included with the acceptance packet from Nova. Maybe you should give Baptist a call to see about the application. The GPA requirement is 3.0 and you'll have to go through another interview.
  2. Has anyone seen BHSF on their financial award packet? Does anyone know when Baptist will let Nova know??
  3. I think since most of us won't have the lab coat yet, we're supposed to go in business casual attire. I'm almost positive that they won't expect for us to come in scrubs on the 31st.
  4. That's true...people are always quick to snatch your equipment if left unattended. For more information as to the supplies we may need, you can go to this website: http://www.undergrad.nova.edu/catalog/html/index.cfm?numContentID=278 then on the left hand side, click on College of Allied Health & Nursing, then Nursing Department, and then Textbooks & Supplies and it'll tell you what you need as far as your supplies. To make life easier, the website states the following: "students will also need the following supplies: a watch with a second hand, bandage scissors, and stethoscope." Then it goes on to talk about needing a PDA but that they will talk to us about that once school starts. If you click around on that site, you'll actually get a lot of good information. Hope this helps...
  5. I forgot about that...I work for Doctors so I already have a badge too. Where do you work? I tried sending you a PM but I guess you haven't put enough post up. Email me at [email protected]...
  6. Well, from what I understand, 40 is the maximum per group. Or maybe it was 60? Who knows...I'm totally excited also. I'm just getting all my things ready for the 31st. I think I might head out to buy my uniforms this week at this uniform store that there is on US1 and 62nd Avenue. I already ordered my lab coat since the bookstore said it takes up to 5 weeks to be processed. I just found out classes end on December 11th for anyone who was interested in knowing when the break would be (since I can't seem to find an academic calendar anywhere on the website). Well, let me know if anyone hears about anything we should know about...
  7. They never really specified what they look at but I have a feeling they look at a both. Plus your interview...
  8. Good morning everyone, I just wanted to start our own thread so we can discuss any of our own issues here. I don't know about the rest of you guys but I'm super excited about this. I can't wait to get started! I wish everyone luck...I'm sure we're going to become a very close group considering we'll be spending everyday of each other's lives for the next 27 months! I think we came in a good time because I was told by one of our nurses who does the preceptorships (she teaches the new grad nurses) here at Doctors Hospital (part of Baptist) that this is probably going to be the last group for a little while. I couldn't imagine going to Nova without this scholarship. Alright, that's all for now hehe...feel free to make your own questions or comments. Grace
  9. Hi everyone, I got my acceptance letter in the mail today also for Scholars Program. I'm also going in on Wednesday to sign all the contracts, etc. I'm sooooo excited. I started crying when I read the letter lol...I have no idea why I got so emotional about it!
  10. MIABSN - I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get it but you're right in saying that things happen for a reason. I haven't received anything either. I think this waiting was worse than waiting for my Nova letter!! Anyone get their financial aid award letter yet?? I sent my final transcripts and filled out all the necessary paperwork but I havent heard anything yet. I went last week to pay my other $500 but that hasn't gone through either.
  11. I thought the interview at Nova was pretty general. They'll ask you questions like why do you want to be a nurse, why do you want to go to Nova, your strengths and weaknesses and then they'll ask you a few scenarios and they'll want you to tell them how you would address it. As for me, I felt that they made you feel very comfortable and they were very easy going. Regarding how many male students, I really have no idea how many male students we have in the program. But working in a hospital, I've noticed that all the groups doing clinicals, regardless of the school they are attending, have a ratio of about roughly 7:1 (more or less). So there aren't many guys in the program - I consistently see that. But good luck to you with your interview. I'm sure you'll do well...
  12. I uploaded all my papers last week and I'm still "pending approval" from the Magnus Portal. I tried to find out from Nova how long it would take to approve but I wasn't able to get a response. Anyone upload their stuff and had it approved yet?
  13. Are you sure your sources are reliable lol??
  14. Wow, this is not the kind of news I wanted to hear. I really don't like this waiting thing...
  15. I'm not a nurse personally but I have worked in a hospital setting for the last 6 years. I think that if this person hasn't posed any safety issues on their patients, there really isn't much to go by. I would be concerned if she was working over 20 hours at the same facility but since she's employed somewhere else before she comes into your hospital, there technically isn't anything illegal about it -- unless she's making major mistakes. I'm sure they're keeping an eye on that if they're aware she's working those crazy shifts. I know we would be... Now, if she's working her hours and is performing efficiently, all I can say is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." Just my opinion...
