I'm assuming someone made a remark that an lpn is not really a nurse.
I've heard it all...LPN=little pretend nurse or low paid nurse, etc...
You can't let others negativity and ignorance get to you. All we can do is be the best nurse we know we are. There are plenty of rn's who eventually see that we are just as good if not sometimes more skilled in pt care due to many lpn's being cna's first.

Ignore the haters. No one can make you feel inferior unless you let them.

I was an LPN before becoming an RN and I HATE this statement up to this day. However, because we live in a world where some people are just plain ignorant, I refused to let it get to me and neither should you.
@ Boston..you do get the point of the post, or you wouldn't have made the remark "witch doctor has doctor in it". Again, sorry to any LPN who is being told they aren't nurses.

You are as much of a nurse as any other nurse....IMHO

It happens all the time, unfortunately. You should always be proud of why your are and what you do. I cringe when I hear people say things like "I'm just the nurse".

See how typing can change the meaning of things... Yes, venting.
Yes, I have been told 2 times in one week that I am not a nurse in one way or the other. I had just let go the last time someone said it to me. That was about a month ago. I honestly think the issue seeps from me and people pick up on that.
Know a RN who refuses to toilet her pt because she already "done that job" and will call the CNA to get a call light. YIKES!
I posted back to you BostonFNP.(don't know what happened to it)..yes, venting. Is there any way I could reply to the ones who say this? I know I should just really let it go. But 2 times in one week, 3 times in a month...getting old, old, old.

Hope it wasn't another nurse that made the comments, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was. Know that it's not just you, or LPNs, or ASNs, or BSNs, or MSNs. Nursing and medicine is an archaic hierarchical system.
