I would guess that the lower pay is kind of in exchange for the convenience of the hours and weekends off... It does sound kind of low, but that is relative to what you consider a benefit. My mother did LTC nursing for many years and it is not easy scheduling. (I guess that depends on the facility... one of her employers over the years had high turnover and she was always getting the big OT bucks... with zero time to enjoy them.. lol)
I just got a call back from a hospital that applied for a job opening. It is for a LPN position where I woud work in a clinic Monday thru Friday 9-5. They offered me 23,000 to 28,000 a year. I did the math and it came out to be about 11-13 dollars/hour. That just seems way low to me. I know I could be making 17/hour working in a nursing home. What do ya'll think? Is that way to low?
$11-$13/hr is about right for a clinic.
Depends on several factors. What are the prevailing wages in your area for an LPN in general and specifically for a clinic? What are your personal preferences and requirements for a job? Personally, I would take this job over one in a LTC facility where I would be killing myself every shift, but that is me. Where would you rather work as far as days, hours, type of work, workload? Decide between what is available, but a hospital job for an LPN. Don't walk away from that lightly.

Most RNs & LPNs take a pay cut when going from hospital to clinic setting.
The usual thought is that no weekends, holidays, or nights will off-set the lower pay.
