I'm starting this thread as a 'buddy group' since there are a few NECC students and grads here. It would be nice to be able to share information and help each other out!

Not sure if this belongs in the MA or student forums, so please move if needed. It will be much easier to resurrect in the MA forum, and there seem to be lots of school postings there, so that's why I chose it.

note to tanyaleex3 -----

you have not actually been accepted into the nursing adn program for the fall 09....you have only completed one portion of the requirements that must be done before actually formally applying to the program. signing up for general studies: nursing is only one step on the way to applying. you must also take the teas test and complete prerequisite courses successfully, submit transcripts from other schools, etc. call advising dept at necc and they can explain in more detail. i got the same letter as you a couple of years ago....sorry.

In response to prior posts wondering about acceptance, etc., I recently was accepted for Fall 09 nursing at NECC after applying for the first time. I understand I am extremely fortunate. My grades were all A's (GPA 4.0) for those courses I've taken at NECC (only a few, including A&P 1 and A&P 2). My TEAS scores were very high, 100, two in the 90s, and one in high 80s. At informational session for nursing, they mentioned that TEAS scores (especially math section) as well as science course grades were very strongly considered. Good luck to everyone.

congrats jenbpt:yeah: you must be excited to start the program. i am on the wait list. i feel fortunate to be on that considering all the applicants. keep us updated on the program. good luck.

Thanks so much Phantom....I feel like I won the lottery on this one....do you happen to know how many applied this year? Just curious.

Hi,

I think many applicants applied. I am not sure on the number but my guess is over 200. They did say there were many qualified applicants so we are very fortunate..

Hey all! Does anyone know for sure if we waitlisters who have conditional acceptance into the program Fall 2010 need to take chem? I know the prereqs have changed for those applying to the program for 2010, but are we exempt (or is it just wishful thinking on my part)?

Just found out that there is another mandatory meeting on June 25th...gotta love going to ADN meetings even though we're not in the program, LOL!

Hello,

I would think we would be exempt from taking Chemistry. I think someone would tell you otherwise. I hope!! How did you find out about the June 25 meeting.. We will probably have to go to all the mandatory meetings.. I still need to turn in my health forms..

i never heard about the meeting either, what time is it and did you get a letter in the mail?

My friend (a fellow waitlister) wasn't able to make it to the meeting on May 13th, so she had a make-up meeting yesterday. According to her, they handed out papers that said we had to attend the mandatory meeting on the 25th. I never got anything like this on May 13th, so I'm going to call and double-check tomorrow (would have today, but work is way too busy!). It's supposedly from 8:30-11:30a...

I still need to get my health forms in too - there was a nation-wide shortage of the Hep B vaccine so I had a hard time getting that...if it's not one thing, it's another!

is it at the lawrence campus?? i never got that paper either :o i'm still working on getting my forms filled out im trying to get my old drs office to send my records showing i had the chicken pox,but as of now they still cant find them :S . It's so annoying I dont want to have to take a test that is not covered by my ins, so it would cost me lots of $$ to prove that i had them when i was little! ugh.

Couldn't get ahold of anyone to ask on campus yesterday. Will have to try again today.

Is it the varicella skin test you're trying to have done? If so, your insurance might cover a varicella titer instead. If they don't, you might try checking around with different labs (like Quest, etc) to see if they could do it cheaper. Good luck with your medical records search!

thanks :p shouldn't necc already have this stuff? I'm currently enrolled there right now
