Congrats to all of us that were accepted to the nursing program at either campus for Fall '06!!!!

I'm going to be at the NLC campus! See you in June for orientation!
Also, congrats for making it to the next semester to all new 2nd - 4th semester NLC/ECC student nurses & congrats to the graduates! :balloons:
Good luck to everyone!
I also failed two of the modules. Anxiety and study aids. Ok...so I get nervous about taking tests and I would rather study on my own than in a gossip group! Is that so wrong? Got me an 82 on the test, now....didn't it!
Literally zones out and says "can you repeat your question, I got distracted" So discouraging.
Yes....I am up at 3:00 am because I am disturbed about a personality test that should not matter. I should be in great shape for clinical in a couple of hours.
I keep telling myself....one day at a time....one requirement at a time. My focus for this weekend is physical assesment and reading. I have signed up for the care plan workshop for sunday. Wonder if there is a book I need to buy for that one?
Kendra
Katie,
Tell me more about this careplan class. I am assuming this is something separate from the nursing classes. ??? What is the course number for the careplan class? Are there any other "extra" classes we should take?
Amy
I always tell everyone to take the careplan class during first or second semester. And buy a good careplan book too.The instructor, Ms. B. is really good.

No, you don't need a book for the class but you can ask Ms. B. what careplan book to buy.
I am sorry that you all 1st semester students have to take this upsetting test. I didn't know it was this serious. Make sure you all give feedback to every instructor you meet, even to Mr. M.

There are CE classes for nursing students at ECC. One of them is the careplan class. The instructor is Ms. B. who is very energetic and really knows the stuff she is teaching. The one day classes cost around $30-40 and she also has a one week summer clinical at Parkland.
Katie
Kendra, did your class go on about the LASSI today? It was too funny....."I would do that, but I'm not motivated enough", or "I don't see the point you're trying to make." :chuckle
Did you pay to do the lessons?????????????//
Now that I have found out my techniques aren't good for me, I must spend all weekend trying to revamp a new plan....sol much for reading or studying the assessment check-off... (Yeah right!)
Jaxia, thanks for clarifying that. That's ok with me. I only repeated a couple of "B" classes to make them "A" classes. That won't hurt too bad trying to get into a bridge RN-to-BSN program in the future.
Hubby is coming home from Chicago today....safely, I pray! :) I really would love to kick back, relax for the night with a good, cold Coors Light. Hahaha (Can't though, I'm driving to pick him up from the airport.) HAHA
Shouldn't the "CAREPLAN" and "DOCUMENTATION" be taught well enough that you shouldn't need other classes for that?
OK....I'll stop complaining now.
Study time!
:yelclap: Bravo Mi'Shelle......well said! We were all griping about the LASSI today and come to find out......several of us did not pass one or two sections. Ya know.....I think your study habits are perfect considering you made one of the highest grades so far!!!! I don't think a personality test is going to tell us what we lack. What about that box theory.....aren't they trying to shove us into one? I mean by classifying us as deficient in some areas? If it works.....don't fix it!
Stepping down from my soap box to go stick my head in a book.

:rotfl: (Now where's that box....I know it was here somewhere!)

Well maybe I should have paid for the modules because I can't concentrate enough to study.
Last night b/c I was just to p-o'ed d/t the exam, tonight because my husband's flight has been postponed at least 5 hours.....depends on the weather around 9:30-10 PM.
(Yes, I can study anyway, but he keeps calling to ask about the Chicago area radar I'm looking at online.) :)

If you didn't make 75% or over, you have to do some type of learning strategy exercises for each module, i.e. anxiety, time management, main idea, etc.
I just sent Kanora an e-mail. I told her apparently I'm too stupid to set foot in a college building, let alone make it through nursing school. :angryfire
So my studying techniques isn't the average protocol.....it worked, got my 4.0, passed my first test.
I just need a drink. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
