Congrats to all of us that were accepted to the nursing program at either campus for Fall '06!!!!

:balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons:

I'm going to be at the NLC campus! See you in June for orientation!

Also, congrats for making it to the next semester to all new 2nd - 4th semester NLC/ECC student nurses & congrats to the graduates! :balloons:

Good luck to everyone!

I took that class at El Centro. You have to take it in order to get into any of the health programs (other than nursing). They teach you all the Basic skills kind of like they do CNAs. You also have a crash course in medical terminology.

It used to be offered as a two-parter.

How good and detailed the class is depends on your instructor.

Do you think it would be a good idea to take it allready in the summer ahead of the game. They say we can start our clinicals earlier then the other who don't take the class early.

If they let you start clincials and you have the time, why not?

You can always say NO if you don't feel ready once the nursing program starts.

Funnie maybe you can call and see if they will let you in the class....

I'd want to do it to start clinicals earlier. If I have to go through all the motions & still wait 7 weeks, then I'll just save my money. :)

I'm going to take Statistics this summer. I've registered for a Summer I class at Mountain View.. I really want to have all of my RN to BSN bridge classes finished (saying that Stats is the last one). Geeze, I'm glutton for punishment. I wanted to take it online, but the only online Stats lasted all summer long. I don't want it all summer!

I haven't paid for it yet, so I may change my mind. lol

What irony! I am short Statistic to! I may take a quick class and then take the CLEP. BYU has an online Stats class that you can take up to a year to complete. I am not sure how (or if) I will take it this summer.

If you pass your 'quick class', why would you need to CLEP?

My daughter wanted to go back to the Half-Price Books store and I went ahead and bought more books that looked interesting. lol I spent a little over $30, but that was for my 3 books, plus my daughter's 2 books she bought.

Clinical & Nursing Implications of Laboratory Tests

Clinical Guide to Cancer Nursing

Nurse - Hearts and Hands (Nurses' Most Memorable Experiences)

That's all my spending right now. I'll wait until the new Davis Drug Guide comes out in June that Katie mentioned. :chuckle

I'm still not sure about taking Stats right now. I really think I just want a break after this :angryfire GOVERNMENT 2302:angryfire class. I made a B in GOVT 2301, but I'll be lucky to pass GOVT 2302.

The class average is 70.77 on test 1, I made a 78. The only other grade we have is questions over a movie, I made 33 out of 50, the class average is 29. Something is SERIOUSLY wrong here! :uhoh3: We've had 5 discussion board assignments, but no grades yet. :uhoh3: We've already turned in another set of movie questions, no grade yet, and another set of questions will be posted Friday, with test 2 this weekend. :angryfire

I just want it to be over!!!!!! I've e-mailed the instructor about it all & he wanted to discuss it with me over the phone. I e-mailed him back & told him I wanted all correspondence about my grades to be written. I don't trust this guy for some reason. He won't even tell us the point value needed to make an A/B/C. :angryfire

Anyway....back to studying for the exam this weekend so I can 'ace' it with another C. :angryfire :angryfire

Spring '06 is ALMOST over!!! :balloons: :balloons:

I have seen an online statistics class that is one month long during summer II. semester. I am thinking about taking it...

I wish they would have an online MayMester class. I'd rather get it over with, and have the rest of the summer free. :(

Those Maymester classs are tough, but I liked them. BAM, BAM and your DONE! I wish they offered more of them when I was in Dallas.

I was thinking of just doing the BYU classes so I could get access to the Statistics teaching software. I was going to use that to prepare myself for the CLEP and then drop the class if I passed.

Funnie, do you know if HCA is going to offer that scholarship again?

I looked at the SII online stats....it's 4 credit hours....$264 instead of $198. No thanks, can't do that right now....plus book? nope. I just won't take Stats yet. Maybe next summer.

Look at this, maybe it can help you, Sunny:

That's not the exact scholarship I have from them, but maybe it can help or lead you in the right direction to something else. :D
