I'm going to be at the NLC campus! See you in June for orientation!
Also, congrats for making it to the next semester to all new 2nd - 4th semester NLC/ECC student nurses & congrats to the graduates! :balloons:
Good luck to everyone!
Are only tennis shoes allowed, or can we wear the black rubber shoes that can be hosed down with antibacterial spray? :chuckleDid anyone have their books debound and hole-punched or spiral bound?
Funnie, your are ready for school, aren't you.
As I know, only shoes with closed back are allowed so no clogs.
Several people in my class debounded their books but I kept mine in original form. It's up to you.

Katie, I'm so tired of studying 24/7 on non-nursing stuff. I really need to see that light at the end of the tunnel. :)
gauge14iv, thanks for that tip! :balloons:
I don't want open-back clogs, they'd drive me nuts I think. However, I have seen water-resistant closed-back clogs (Professional Danskos) in black. They are leather, but water-resistant. I think that's what I'm going to get...if they feel right. I'll take gauge14iv's advice & find a Nordstrom close by me.
Katie, what is the rules on rings and watches?
Thanks for all of your help!

I don't wear rings but some of my classmates do. So I have never had problems donning clean or sterile gloves but I don't know what they do. Your skills lab or clinical instructor will tell you the rules on rings on the first day of class. I wish I could help you more. I am sure your instructor will know the answer.

Thanks Katie.
I'll probably wait to look for a band to wear to clinicals then...don't want to wast money if my clinical instructor doesn't allow them at all.
I need to get some new glasses though. I can't wear my contacts as I'm constantly having to stick my finger on my eyeball trying to rotate the contact back around.
I think may go Nordstrom browsing this weekend. :monkeydance: I looked them up to see where the closest location is. (Not to buy, but to try different sizes on.)
BTW, I have I.V. Therapy Made Incredibly Easy on its way...another used book that I hope is not too old by the time I need it. :chuckle
(Katie, have you been told what semester I.V. starts are allowed? When can you actually administer IV meds on existing I.V.'s?)
125 days! :chuckle
Hey Fun- I got the black pair of Danskos and I loved them!
Cool, I'm glad to know that! :)
I've read that they are leather (cuts down on stink...lol), but they are water-resistant. I like that!
I got my current Life Uniform catalog in the mail yesterday. So, I showed my husband the black "Dansko Professional slip-on" (I'm sure he was really impressed:uhoh3: ), and told him that we're going to Nordstrom this weekend (I'm sure he's excited). :chuckle
Anyway, I wear 8's in regular shoes, so I figure I need a 39. I read on a thread that a person wears size 9 and bought size 40 & they fit.
Yes I am sure you guys will have a ton of fun at Nordstroms this weekend I wear a size 8 and I bought a 39 but my feet are really wide so I had to move up to a size 40 and I like those much better.
Waterproof is good! I can vouch for that too!!! I was giving a patient a shower and I was helping him out of his wheelchair and into the seat in the shower. There were 4 shower heads all lined up along this wall in the shower room and I was standing under one of them. Instead of reaching behind him to turn the knobs for his shower head, I accidentally turned the knobs for the one I was standing under. I got completely soaked and he was laughing so hard. It was a fun moment but because of my shoes my feet were the only dry area on me and the shoes weren't damaged at all. Maybe I should advertise that for Dansko!! lol
