Ok folks - it is that time again .... there are many new names and faces (well avatars anyway) on our web site ... time to get to know the North Carolina people.
Lets give a location - why you are there, your current nursing status and anything else you might want to share ....
I am Patrick, the moderator for the North Carolina Forum ... live in Asheville - moved here a year ago from Florida and love the mountains and the moderate climate .... can tell you that Hurricane Frances breezed through town last week and gave us a lot of headaches! Anyway, I am a nurse manager for a med-surg unit and a single father of 3. I attend the University of Phoenix and am hoping to graduate with my BSN-MSN in the very near future.
Hey all. In the mountains of Western North Carolina mountains(asheville). I have just begun my two year journey through hell(nursing school)!!!LOL j/k I have to say I am really enjoying it. I can't wait to get finished and start working. I was a paramedic before going to nursing school. I want to work in the Emergency Room when I am finished(imagine a paramedic wanting to work in the ER). I don't know if I want to stay in WNC or if I want to go somewhere else. Can anyone give me any suggestions?
:) suggestion: put all your energy and thought into school and your family for now - don't start to think about "what and where" until later in your 2nd year - trust me, you will not be the same person then as you are today, and neither will the focus and goal of your plans, so don't waste precious time, mental and emotional resources on the "what and where" for now!Hey all. May G-d grant that you hit the bull's eye with every course, clinical, lab and mastery exam! Never loose the focus of the fire that caused you to chose this path, no matter how weary you get or how many around you falter!

Hey to all!
Im a travel nurse, I live in Cherryville, NC (30 miles west of Charlotte) and I only take assignments in the state. Im currently working in Greenville, NC and have resigned my contract there. Am hoping to get into DUKE or DURHAM REGIONAL for my sext contract. I have four kids, two dogs and an estranged husband. I love traveling, it has given me the chance to see so many diffferent things and the way "the other half" does it. Im a critica care nurse, got my BSN from Univeristy of Phoenix onlne and am currently working on a triple masters (MSN,MHA,MBA) from the same.
Good to be here!
Mother/baby, NBN, and highrisk OB nurse here living in Rocky Mount. Been a nurse x 5 yrs. Started out in MS (didn't last long), switched to community & stayed there over 3 years and now am in OB. I have a wonderful husband and 2 yr old son; I work Fri & Sat weekend option at WakeMed in Raleigh so I can spend time with my favorite guys during the week. Also, does anyone know where I can find rehab for allnurses.com addiction??
Hi all fellow NCarolinians! I've been a member since a couple of days ago but have been lurking in the shadows for months now reading the posts. Love this site! I live in the general Winston-Salem area. Between jobs right now and actively seeking/interviewing different options at the moment.
Been a nurse since 1986. Attended Davidson Co. Comm. College-ADN here.
Any others in my general area?
I am in the "heart of the triad" between Greensboro, High Point and Winston Salem. I am in my next to last semester of nursing school. I don't know where I will end up, but I am leaning toward High Point Regional. The super hospitals at Baptist and Moses Cone don't appeal to me. I hear that there is a place for everyone, so I will probably find a "home". I really dislike med-surg, so I don't know where that home will be. Good to see all of you NC people here.
I live in Greensboro and have heard that High Point Regional is a great place to work.
